Agree he'll need some lead-in shield form but unless this side magically becomes decent with the bat between now and the ashes it's a pretty huge call to leave him out. Moeen Ali is batting no.3 for England. And beyond that we play with half a dozen all rounders because we only have two quality Test batsmen.

But don't worry because T10 cricket is gathering momentum and I'm sure that'll shift the balance back towards rewarding correct techniques and building an innings.
