If the Aussies end up losing the series so badly to the point where it puts us out of qualification for the World Test Championship Final, this is the time to clean out the closet and start planning for the future.

I do fear for the future but yes I agree that some players might finish up if we get smashed this series.

The is the slowest non-rain-affected outfield I think I've ever seen.

It's like they forgot to mow the lawns near the boundary.

I've said before and I'll say it again, last summer vs Pakistan/West Indies (before having marquee home series over the following two summers against India and England) and the tour of New Zealand was the big chance the selectors had to slowly start blooding new players into the side.

But no, the selectors were hell-bent on giving Warner his farewell tour, then in an even bigger blunder, promoting Smith to opener. Finally, Starc/Hazlewood/Cummins were all on tired legs by the time that Brisbane test occurred, and the extreme heat and humidity there just made it worse.

Siraj should expect a fine for running down the pitch appealing like a pork chop.

Kettlebro and the Gaffer have been pretty good umpiring so far.

MCG back in the 90s had a much slower outfield.

Back when the fence was the boundary (i.e. 10 metres longer than what is at Optus Stadium), batsmen really had to middle the cut/pull/hook shots for the ball to reach the square boundaries at the old MCG. Otherwise, running 4 was a very common occurrence.

Siraj the f..kwit

show the umpire respect you arrogant twat
If the ICC had balls, I'd love to see them dish out harsher punishments for that sort of behaviour.

But because BCCI controls international cricket, it ain't happening anytime soon, as their players are the biggest culprits when it comes to intimidating umpires.

The aftermath of the Tendulkar ball-tampering controversy in 2001 set the precedent which has turned uglier over the past 23 years
