We'll find out tomorrow but the pitch isn't a road IMO.

There's bounce, good carry and some spin on day 1. The top three just killed it today.

there was a green tinge on it too, looked like a typical gabba pitch, scores dont back that up tho

It's not a road, we batted really well and the Kiwi's bowled far too short. Besides Southee i thought they all were pretty average.

Saw the score at 1/300 and thought this has to be a road, how else would we not collapse against a rated bowling attack.

Plenty of storms due this week to liven it up.

where is that f**kwit Locky

wonder how much he had on Oozie getting a ton ?

disappointing day for fans really, I dont remember anyone doing this on the Gabba in recent years on day 1, I thought this would be much closer

I guess we'll get a better idea of the pitch when we see the Kiwis bat.

I thought Boult and Southee looked good early but I guess the workload got to them, they really need better support bowlers imo.

Working most of today, Thursday unfortunately is my long day, only have caught bits and pieces of it. Khawaja must have batted well, but he has to back it up. Darsh was good for a ton too..followed by 10 low scores. I hope he backs it up, until then I'm not totally convinced. Needs 2-3 series' of consistent scores- same with Burns. Our batting needs to show consistency.

On the positive......Smith at 4, told you.

It's pretty funny that the kiwis warmed up against terrible opponents on cow paddocks now in hindsight.

That's right re Burns and Khawaja.

They have the ability no doubt, but they need to be consistent over a few series as you say.

I agree with you on Smith at 4.

Just catching up on the thread... Good to see all the LU Aussie wanker bregade out in force after day 1...

The same bunch of wankers who disappeared during the ashes series...

Day 1 of the first test and your already shit talking...

His captaincy has been hugely odd today. Definitely doesn't seem to be coping at all, there's no plan, there's no consistency and no rhyme or reason to his bowling changes....

I reckon Chris Cairns got him to finally come around before the start of play

Really disappointing day for us - Boult looked well short of form and he was well down on his usual pace - he's just back from a serious injury so not surprising in hindsight - hope he's ok, he will get better if so

Southee was very good, Doug didn't stand up.

Warner played very well, as did Khawaja - that said, when under pressure I'd sooner come in at 1/200 than 1/2

Missed the first day and I'm glad that I did. Hopefully the Kiwi batsmen can match the Aussies' efforts

Has only been a few hasn't there? Still a loooong way to go in this test match, you blokes gave batsmen that are more than capable of matching a big total

I actually have to work today so I've only been able to watch bits and pieces. That ball to get Smith was a cracker though.
