Pitch looked fine on the stream. Bit iffy around the creases but nothing on some sub continent tracks. Fine by me anyway, means the Kiwis don't bat. I'd have never declared personally.

Will the match still be classed as FC? For Carters and Finch's sake, I hope so.

Bancroft is far too young and inexperienced. Carters is a better option and the same was said about him on here despite being much more advanced in his career. Rightly so, too.

Burns is the right pick to open

Is there a reason why new Zealand were playing their last (I think) warm up game on a Sydney grade pitch

He made 150+ in the first Metrador match...coming off a massive season last year.

Khawaja is just Darsh all over again...15-20, gets out, rince and repeat.

Same goes for Bancroft.

Hopefully Voges can have a good series.

Fair enough

Its Khawajas home deck plus we probably didn't want to blood any newbies vs southee and boult. I reckon Bancroft will play a couple of tests this summer though. Pressure on Khawaja/Burns and Voges to contribute with the bat

The fact Smith batted at 3 for NSW suggests that is where he prefers to bat and he is batting at 4 because of the idiotic media attention he has got (he averages like 80 at 3) and his technique. Also to accommodate Khawaja.

I mean whatever but I think a sides best batsmen chooses where he wants to bat.

Smith is easily a better 4 or 5 than a 3. Look at his shots in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Ashes tests for evidence why.

The ashes test where he scored the first Australian double century overseas for 10 years...uhh ok.

Smith should bat wherever he wants to.
