That's what I'm not clear on, do they light up when they dislodge or when there's vibration through the stumps?

To the eye they hadn't moved, but as long as that's dislodging then fair enough

They light up when the bail completely dislodges from the stumps. The umpires are told to treat the zing bail lighting up as the stumps breaking.

Obviously if the bail falls back into its grove it would be not out but the wicket breaks when the bail lights up if the bails then fall to the ground
