Australia need a guy who can bowl something part time. Warner's leggies are useful but he probably bowls too many long hops. I can't remember the last time smith bowled, you wouldn't know how they came out these days.

Between Smith, Maddinson and Warner there's options there

Smith doesn't seem to like using part timers. Clarke was the same. It's a side of his captaincy I don't like tbh, part-timers used well can be massively valuable, especially in breaking partnerships....

How do you not even get 5000 people to the game on a Sunday...especially when their was a chance of seeing a result.

Head in for Maddinson would solve that. I think Patterson is the best option for 6 though.

Must be a Queensland thing.

In all seriousness though, excluding Ashes tests vs England (which have regularly got 30-40k since the redevelopment), test crowds at the Gabba have been very disappointing for a long time

What was the crowd like the first 3 days? I imagine a few would have stayed away because of the weather. Although it hasn't caused many delays there's been constant severe storm warnings all day. Might have spooked a few people.

Pakistan won't be pushovers at the MCG, especially if they bat first

If they get overcast conditions that are conducive to swing - like Pakistan had at Headingley and England did in the 2010 Boxing Day Test, where we got bowled out for less than 100 on both occasions - Amir and Wahab Riaz will be difficult to face.

Day 1 - 26,343
Day 2 - 23,344
Day 3 - 20,915.

Although those are very good Gabba crowds, makes me wonder if larger crowds could've been obtained had the test started on Friday, like last year's day/nighter vs New Zealand at Adelaide did.

f**k up Ian Chappell, that wasn't a nice looking attempted cover drive, it was rubbish and that's why he missed it

Night test cricket is pretty good. I was cautious at first and thought one a summer or one a series is the way to go but if and when they ramp up the amount of day night tests I won't have any complaints.

I was cautious too but I love it from a viewing perspective. Being able to roll home from work having only missed a session, whack it on and veg out for the evening is awesome

It's brought a different dimension to the game as well
