If Cook doesn't get runs, England struggle.

The similarities between them and Aus are quite remarkable with the make ups of the respective teams.

If Clarke doesn't get runs, we struggle.

Lyon - Swan are good cricketers but aren't game breakers unless the pitch is bs

Broad - Johnson/Starc very erratic but can break a game wide open with quality spells of unplayable bowling

Finn - Siddle will run in all day and bowl line and length

Anderson - Hilf hard to play when the ball swings. When it doesn't, they might as well just focus on their batting

Wade - Prior Can be good and bad with the gloves. Can also make a contribution with the bat... or not. Depends on what kind of day they're having.

Watson - Bresnan haha, imagine how pissed Watson would be. He's about on par with Bresnan as an 'all rounder' at the moment. Good for 20 or 30 then out doing something stoopid.

Warner - Pietersen Both capable of destroying a bowling attack on any pitch, anytime, anywhere. Not consistent and wouldn't want either batting for your life

Hughes - Bell Can't understand how either of them play test cricket

Cowen - Compton Deers in headlights. See off the new ball.

Trott is like De Villiers, extremely hard to remove from the crease. Definitely not a plodder, a good batsman with a good water tight technique. Ian Bell loves playing against Australia, he has tasted success against us on a few too many occassions. Compton looks a good prospect, still findin his feet in the test arena and likewise Root. You call them plodders but these plodders have embarrassed us in 2 series and won another tight series. All we have to show is an absolute domination of them but with Hayden, Langer, Martyn, Symonds, Warne, McGrath, Clark and of course Gilly.. Their squad on the other hand hasn't changed too much. Strauss/Collingwood is gone, Flintoff too and Hoggard/Harmison.

Bell averages over 46 in Test cricket with 16 test centuries and a S/R of 51. That's why he plays test cricket. Aside from that did you just put Jimmy Anderson on the same level as Hilfy? Anderson reverses the ball as well as anyone in world cricket; so he has more than swing with the new ball.

That was some of the worst player-to-player comparisons done in history.

de Villiers is much better to watch than Trott and de Villiers natural style of batting is more attacking. Trott isn't a beautiful batsman, but he gets the job done.

I don't think England are overly reliant on Cook like some might suggest, but I think that is because Trott and KP are there, KP is capable of doing all the work on his own and Trott is very solid, he does a similar thing for the team as Cook does

Btw Starc is an arsehole. Clearly a massive chip on his shoulder because he has the worst case of acne seen in recent years.

377 to go

Not that Im in Sri Lanka's corner here (and im not), but the strategy for them should be to bat until tea tomorrow, see how many wickets are left, not worry about the runs that much, bat naturally, unless there is a collapse of 3/4 wickets.

If only 4 wickets are down at tea tomorrow, the game should be safe

EDIT lbw appeal, referred an inside edge- crap

Better stuff from Starc, less Shitchell-like.

he is a bit like Notch, he can bowl an unplayable delivery then crap for the rest of his spell

he is a work in progress atm and no doubt he will mature and become more consistent and I hope its sooner rather then later as our bowlers are dropping like flies
