That wicket hopefully gives them a bit of inspiration, if we break this partnership we're at the bowlers

Yeah, I don't hate Lyon it's just that he doesn't have the venom to take wickets when they are needed. I think he has two issues, firstly he lacks variety - no arm ball, no real changes in pace or loop either. This 'Jeff' ball he supposedly has? No idea.

The second thing is that he looks like he is afraid to get hit for boundaries. A spinner can't be afraid of batsmen going after him, Lyon seems content to bowl economically and hope for wickets.
I think Lyon has been forced to be an economic bowler, because our quicks tend to get put away easily.

He's the first offie we've had in a while who can spin the ball, he's worth persevering with.

If we could train two of our quicks to bowl more economically (Siddle and Hilfenhaus would be the obvious choices) than we can justify having the likes of Starc, Cummins, Pattinson etc in the side, who aren't economy bowlers, but are capable of taking a bag of wickets.

I agree, but today the economy rates shouldn't have mattered. But through a glut of one day cricket he seems scared to go for a few runs to buy a wicket. Even the great Warnie wasn't scared to buy a wicket.
