Nobody is saying that strawman..as option to open Bancroft is right choice.

Smith's record has been built in middle order & right now is struggling to hit ball clean ..
He’s spent the best part of his career at 1st and 2nd drop numbnuts. You’re so out of your depth discussing cricket champ. Might want to consider another sport.

Fire up baldkins! Only 2 days to go before the clash of the titans! I've got the jitters just thinking about the matchups!

I tip WI to win by an innings inside 3 days. I dare anyone to tell me otherwise.
I agree the Sir Wank Forrell trophy is going home to the Caribbean

Smith thinks he can handle opening because in the 2019 ashes he got a lot of runs and was coming in during the first few overs anyway when at 3/4

The openers in that series that gave Smith the chance to face the new ball were Warner, Bancroft and Harris

tbf

Smith was 29 then, and coming off a long break (sandpaper gate ban)

Would have been mentally fresh as ever (for this reason id like him to ditch white ball cricket now)

He is 34yo now, not playing with the same rhythm and precision, and played a lot of cricket in all formats last 12 months

Hopefully he can carve up next couple of years, particularly next home test series v India

Feels like the coverage and build up has been pretty low key since Smudge was announced as opener last week. You wouldn't really know the Test is starting tomorrow unless you were a hardcore fan.

I reckon most casuals wouldnt have a clue tbh.

Reflection of where the Windies are at atm.

Kemar Roach still going around.

Feels almost a lifetime ago when he got Ricky Ponting on the elbow in Perth.
kind of was a lifetime ago (14 years!)- his overall record is pretty good, excellent at home, poor away - awful in Australia (all these things are pretty common lol)

Been a good servant for them, just seldom had much support, and injuries affected that electric pace

I'm picking Australia in a tight one

I reckon Smith will go ok here
