On a dustbowl in India..plus he went for 400 in the match! Very expensive!
firstly, be fair it was 350, and it was his test debut, find me someone else who had an 8for in their test debut. Also, yeah he was expensive, but at least he was taking wickets, more than what can be said for the other Aussie bowlers in that test match, particularly that first innings. Allow me to pull up the scorecard for you

I have seen the scorecard before. He was ridiculously expensive. Was even more expensive in Perth in Australia, and subsequently dropped. Fact is despite him bowling wicket balls, he bowls at least one "4 ball" an over. We can't have Krezja, Johnson and Siddle in the same attack, they are all expensive!

I'm with locky on this one. In every single innings he's bowled in, he's gone for over 100 runs at around 5 an over. India just lost concentration against him and showed no respect against him when if they actually knuckled down in that first innings, he wouldn't have had anywhere near as much success.

I am not advovating the selection of Krejza, I was making a point that he gets wickets, both spinners have their pros and cons, I would prefer if Australia had a better option. With regards to those 2, Krejza for ability to take wickets, Hauritz for economy and looks

I'm not questioning you, but apart from that test against India, has Krejza done anything ? Even though Hauritz isn't very good in the test game, surely he would have to be the best option until someone else is ready.

I don't know, ideally you'd want Hauritz to up his game so he can be up to the standard Australia need in their to spin bowler, the problem is that he isn't at the moment. I think maybe Australia should be looking at getting someone to work with him on his bowling...

Krejza has only played 2 tests, both were pretty bad losses for Australia, the other one Johnson got the 8for in the opening innings. Clarke had a go at bowling in that test and had a worse economy then Krejza. Here's the scorecard

So to be fair to him, he only played two tests which Australia (And not just him) got absolutely hammered in

To be fair to krejza it was India who tore him a new
one. Have a look at what they done to murali over
the years. And his other game was on a belter when
I thought he was used poorly. Honestly niether of them are test standard.

Bring back McGain, with a full pre season he is bowling well, a leggie is better option than an offie in Australia anyway and McGain has a few 5 wicket hauls

Hauritz 0 in 50 matches
Krezja 1 in 35 matches (In India)
McGain 4 in 24 matches

isn't McGain 37? Using him this year was stupid

I think what the selectors need is a couple of relatively young guys and to work with them and to keep backing them (by backing them I don't mean giving the test berths when they don't deserve them, I mean continuing to look after them and back their choice to put effort into them), to let them make mistakes, but make sure they are constantly working on their games and fighting for their positions in the Aussie team. They could even do this with Hauritz and Kejza, as long as they don't have ridiculous expectations that someone should be the next Shane Warne

Which spinner do you want then? You need a spinner in Australia.
Neither.

Hauritz can't turn the ball, bowls defensively and can't get wickets and Krezja isn't consistent enough.

I'd have been keen to give pup a bowl, he's outperformed both Hauritz and Krezja at first class level as a bowler, but his back appears to be a concern.

Anyone who can take wickets, even if they go for 4-5 runs an over, if they are getting wickets, especially in test cricket, then it doesn't matter.

Hauritz if picked won't be picked for his wicket taking ability that is for sure, economy and overrates are the only things Hauritz really brings to the table, it is unfortunate MacGill was so unfit by the time Warne retired he could have been the stop gap until Smith was ready.

i didnt say bring him back, i just meant it was unfortunate that it happened otherwise we wouldn't be stuck with what we have now.

Exactly AM. I don't think I have ever said Hauritz is our long term spinner. He is our best spinner right now though. Plus due to Johnson and Siddle going at 4-5 an over, we need a guy who keeps the runs down in hauritz. Put it this way Paul Harris does the same job for South Africa!

Thats right, the Australian test team is supposed to be about blooding youngsters, not picking the best available, thats why everyone wants Hughes, better him getting bounced around at test level than at NSW

Oh but then again people got upset when Clark was dropped, he doesnt fit this new youth policy? Of course everyone got upset when a 34 year old and 32 year old injury prone paceman were both overlooked for younger players, yet now we want the younger players? Make up your minds, pick the best or youth
