hopefully they pick it back up at the return of play, the bowlers showed some great stuff in the opening overs, hopefully we can have more of that ... don't want this test match to run too far away this early

Yeah Ponting was dead as anything there, thankfully the guy is a Bowden-esque "not out" umpire and the Windies are gunshy after wasting a referral earlier

Ponting gone...two very good LBW shouts and then he nicked one, his head was still in the sheds I reckon.

Good start by the Windies after lunch. I want us to win - but I want them to make us earn it.

Almost tea and they haven't even bowled half the overs yet. Unbelievable.
to be fair, they have bowled just over half the overs ... these slow overrates are bloody ridiculous. I know that they are trying to ensure that we get 15 overs per hour, but here is evidence that what they are doing is not working ...

Is it just me or does Kat get really scratchy once he gets to about 70? I seem to remember plenty of times where he's looked in total control and then at about 70 his game falls to crap and he gives chances and often fails to go on with it.

Hes become more aggressive since his return to Australia. For NSW he valued his wicket which led to a heap of 100s and even a 300.

51 overs by tea.

Terrible, what good is a pitch when they cannot get through overs?

I have not seen any play yet, but can say seems like good conditions for bowling, there is cloud cover and a decent breeze.

I work across the road.

it this point it's a great batting wicket, was a good toss for Ponting to win

Absolutely. From the first shot of the pitch at the toss you could see this thing was a belter. Easiest decision in the world to bat first. It'll open up a bit and wear as it gets on, but even late in the game this should be good for batting on. Should still be enough in it to get a result, but you'll need to earn your wickets.
