It does seem that to Aussies, playing spin well means galloping down the pitch - weird...

Besides Smith falling over like a big galoot i dont mind using the feet to just push the ball into gaps. Its when they start skipping down the wicket to give it the big heave thats the worry.

Smith got out in the ashes because Ali saw him coming and tossed it a foot wide of leg and Smith was good enough to still get his hands to the ball to avoid the stumping but he pushed it to a fielder.

Also, considering how much we suck in Asia its not like we are good against spin bowling either.

I think its because finger spinning comes to die in Australia. So we get used to belting them out of the attack

It is interesting that Craig's bowling around the wicket to Smith - not sure it's to do with shutting down a side of the field, might just be about Smith himself

Why our batsman are continually aggressive against finger spinners amazes me, on a day one wicket who would you prefer to face??? Just work him around and hit the bad ones it's not rocket science.

I do like Richardson... not everyone does, but he's his own man

Well he knows his cricket history unlike Cumming. Allan Border was a left hander, I wonder if someone will tell Cumming before the end of the day.

Never understood that either. Just push them around. Blasting them out of the attack only serves to bring someone else in more likely to pick up the wicket, and that's if you don't hole out trying to spank a turner back over the Tasman.

It works in Australia because it stops the spinner being able to do donkey work and the plan is to make the quicks work in the Australian heat. Here its not a big deal for McCullum to bring back on a quick.

Still gotta put the bad balls away.

 missed that, what did he say?

As a kid I loved Border - loved beating the Aussies, but that bastard just grit his teeth and kept fighting...

Not if you're going to butcher said bad ball and lob it straight down the gullet of mid wicket.

Talking about Hadlee's 300th dismissal.

Border lbw.

AB reckons it pitched outdide leg and was high.

Cumming gave a rhb facing rfm scenario. Hadlee was good but he couldn't beat Newton's laws. I mean he cannot have thought after what AB said that Hadlee was around the wicket.
