I trust McCullum comes in next, not sure whether he was slated for 5 or 6, but in this situation and the form he is in, it's the chance to throw the gauntlet down... mind you, Rutherford and Taylor won't crawl along

Its only Day 2 of this 4 day game, but if I'm New Zealand I think I want to be bowling again just before stumps. Hopefully with a lead close to 300

Rutherford has now outscored England, great innings.

Lead of 100, they should be looking to build a lead big enough to not need to bat again.
Get a lead of 350+ and send England in early tomorrow, weather permitting that should mean close to two days at them.

Rutherford goes and they drop Brownlie three balls later.
I still think England aren't quite dead and buried here, a couple quick wickets and who knows.

He hammered the aussies on twitter after they got rolled by India in the 2nd test

He's one to talk about Australia performing poorly when England were absolute crap for two decades until about 2005.

Anderson is going ok atm

I know Brownlie is another one (like Watling) that seems to be flavour of the month at the moment, but I remain completely unconvinced he ius useful outside of bouncy flat conditions - he plays sp0in about as well as Phil Hughes, and moves his feet like Chris Martin

Watling gone, six down suddenly.

New Zealand are in danger of blowing this, England are well capable of hauling down of a <200 lead and either playing for the draw or even setting a target.

Watling gone too...

Quick runs from McCullum now in ODI mode? There's nothing permanent about Southee, but Bruce Martin especially can play a Vetorri like innings I think

A toss is always good to win in NZ, the wickets tend favour the bowlers for the first 20ish overs. Still poor batting by the poms though as well, when you consider we are 380/7 in reply

Southee with a nice little cameo and he pissed that douched Broad off

NZ at least want a 250 run lead, hopefully they can hang around McCullum and get that up to 300.

A couple of well earned top order wickets thanks to good bowling from Wagner, but most of the dismissals were terrible shots and easy catches. All of Martins wickets were pretty much gifts.
