We will do very well to draw from here. The batting looks weak with Anderson at 5 - one of the top 4 really need a big one.

Not sure it's that weak, I like Neesham and Anderson tbh (perhaps not in the same team, but both very talented)... we're pretty much stuffed, but a lot depends on their spinners - and Kane... if we can scrape a draw, it'd be huge I reckon

I like Anderson but he is more of a 6 IMO. His bowling isn't really good enough to warrant a spot batting below there though - so he does have something to prove at 5.

Neesham is kind of like the new Oram - his bowling will be a bit more redundant at test level but he could still average in the mid 30s with the ball. Very much a batting all rounder - and his batting is more suited to the long game like with Oram too. All IMO of course - I haven't seen a huge amount of Neesham domestically.

It amazes me that it took until the late 1970s before players started to wear helmets.

Good to see the seam nice and straight.

yeah, even with helmets injuries happen... unlucky, a dead wicket and Corey Anderson, not what you'd expect

How good does the great Sir Isaac Alexander Vivian Richards seem now though - no helmet, no thigh pad, more helpful wickets for quicks, and for the most part taking them on, tearing them apart and not getting hit...

Vivvy didn't mind them short, bowl short to him at your own peril, generally they went over the fence.

pretty much stuffed with Williamson gone - easily our best player of spin...

Time for Taylor to play a career defining innings?

Latham played well, a few sloppy shots by others... a better effort in that innings and the test was saveable... not now
