Probably more likely they have been on it for days and smashed a few Endones in to them for the comedown.

Oxy is hillbilly heroin. Why are doctors prescribing endones to players anyway ? They cant be in that much pain.

Oxycontin is hillbilly heroin. Same as Endone but comes in much higher doses

There is no such thing as oxycodeine either. The drug is oxycodone and is marketed as Endone. It is very, very commonly used for breakthrough pain post surgery. Even hand surgery these days. Commonly in combination with Tramadol or Panadeine Forte.

Anyway, the thing is this. These clowns will of been given these drugs whilst in hospital. They would of reacted then if there was a suggestion of allergy or other adverse effect.

They have abused the drugs in some way for sure.

To be fair, professional sport has had problems with this sort of thing for years and its all been swept under the carpet and covered up by some managers, players, clubs and bosses.

It's probably worse than performance enhancing drugs.

That said, why you'd be tempted to misuse your prescription medication is beyond me. Not a smart thing to do at all.

I don't think it's temptation, it's an addiction. Some of those things are incredibly strong and your body builds up a tolerance to them. So it starts with 2 pills, then you need 4 to feel it, then 6, then 10 etc...

When they have recovered they need a good role model to come and talk to them about the dangers of prescription drugs.... for some reason Jake Friend springs to mind.

Interesting the Rabbitohs CEO just said on NRL360 "We're glad someone was brave enough to call 000 instead of running away".. Why would you run away if your mates are vomiting and sick if nothing dodgy was going on?

"Seizures have been reported in patients receiving tramadol within the recommended dosage range. Spontaneous post-marketing reports indicate that seizure risk is increased with doses of tramadol above the recommended range. Concomitant use of tramadol increases the seizure risk in patients taking:
•Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRI antidepressants or anorectics),•Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), and other tricyclic compounds (e.g., cyclobenzaprine, promethazine, etc.), or•Other opioids. Administration of tramadol may enhance the seizure risk in patients taking:
•MAO inhibitors (see also WARNINGS, Use with MAO Inhibitors and Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors),•Neuroleptics, or•Other drugs that reduce the seizure threshold. Risk of convulsions may also increase in patients with epilepsy, those with a history of seizures, or in patients with a recognized risk for seizure (such as head trauma, metabolic disorders, alcohol and drug withdrawal, CNS infections). In tramadol overdose, naloxone administration may increase the risk of seizure."

A bit of a read albeit educational.

And if anyone here is not familiar to seeing a patient in a coma.Think of someone on a bed, bloated to half the size they usually are with a constant sweat all over them with connections to the machines all over the place.

It is a very surreal scene to which I've witnessed many times, which few survive.
