So your afl biased brain also forgot to mention an entire country called New Zealand.

but if it makes you feel better

AFl 6 states & 1 Territory - 15.5/19 Australian metro teams
NRL 3 States & 1 Territory - 11.5/16 Australian metro teams

AFL Australian TV deal $550mill
NRL Australian TV deal $370mill

AFL 0 international teams
NRL 1 International team

AFL International TV deal $0
NRL International TV deal $32mill

I don't think it's fair to compare the 2 codes TV deals.
AFL is a far better vehicle for commercials, the game goes for 3 hours and played in quarters, there are opportunities after every goal and between quarters to air in game commercials. Unless the NRL starts playing in quarters and allowing TV time-outs similar to the NFL and NBA , AFL will always have a far larger TV deal.

Its not just tv deals. The revenue gap last year, when the tv deals were not that far apart was $300million. Metro matters clearly.

No to mention more ad space on FTA and 0.5 extra game isnt worth $180mill in Australian tv payment difference when NRL has Origin and higher ratings surely?

Crayon time again,
going to 20 teams should priorities the Australian metro markets as they clearly are key drivers of increased revenue.
And this has what to do with the thread topic. It's just an afl fan, possibly with a brain injury of some description, mindlessly talking about afl and metros.

What has a discussion about the value of metro markets got to do with a thread talking about expanding the comp to 20 clubs and who that might include? You really cant see the relevance? Critical analysis not a skill then? Bless.

Bless yourself. You have just used this as an excuse to once again promote afl to the detriment of rugby league. It's got nothing to do with metros, its all to do with you spamming the forum with the same old broken record afl bullshit.

I think the NRL deal being as close as it is to the AFL is pretty remarkable.
It simply comes down to dollars and cents for the bean counters at Ch9 and 7.

AFL have on average of 22 goals per game where ads can be delivered in game to a captured audience, ontop of that they have 2 x 5 minute commercial breaks between quarters.
The NRL can only squeeze in a commercial break after a try.
Based on that the AFL should be getting more than double the NRL.

Your analysis is sound. That said the NRL could literally introduce an extra five minutes of half time and I doubt people would take up arms. However, it’s only beneficial to FTA revenue. It’s moot for ad-free subscription services. And that’s where a lot of NRL viewers are now watching.
