If you're measuring it purely in money, then you've probably got higher earning potential as an accountant (without knowing what sort of jobs your friends have obviously) and more job opportunities. i've finished marketing myself, and i'm now doing accounting. tbh, i've started so i might as well finish. but i wonder, some of my friends haven't gone to uni and are now earning around $40-50k per annum. after 5 years study i'll come out of uni and be earning the same. is uni really worth it?

I have been at uni for nearly a week and just a friendly word of advice to everyone, get a co-op membership, or buy second hand textbooks although you have to make sure that your course would be still using those. Textbooks are a necessary evil, they are heavy and they cost a lot but you need to have them


Also in my opinion philosophy is the best subject uni has to offer, even if they make you read The Illiad

I'm still yet to get my accounting textbook, anyone have any idea on how much that will set me back?

it's a really long book and even the translation is hardly in english, but philosophy is a great subject, in today's tutorial our lecturer posed three questions to us the first 2 leading into third which asked "Was Odysseuss a complete bastard?"
