^ It was Christchurch's first NRL game for over four years. Most of these tickets were also pre-sold.

Though I will concede that Aucklanders know how to jump on the bandwagon when the team is going well, and jump off it when they are not. I can guarantee you that if the Warriors are playing for a spot in the top-8 or similar, they will get a bumper crowd.

I was at the game today with a mate who supports the Eels and we made that point. You can blame the weather all you want but if they were top of the table I would expect double that crowd.

I thought it was a good crowd considering it was pouring down with rain.

All teams have bandwagon jumpers, especially when it a warm sunny day in Sydney;-)

Some pretty solid crowds in there - for a region that's continually having a carrot dangled in front of them, having a number of 15k+ crowds in there is a job well done IMO. It's not ideal, I'll concede that - but I see above you're trumpeting Perth who only managed 13,164 last week.

.

difference is we don't have the advantage of two sets of fans travelling from Sydney to the CC for the game to boost the numbers. Of the 13,164, probably 13,100 were Perth RL fans who turned out for the game. The Gosford crowds are made up of CC RL fans and often two sets of fans from Sydney.

It's not the first sub 10k crowd at Gosford and should be a little bit of a concern.

Precisely.

And despite both teams sitting in low positions on the ladder, they were coming off wins and their respective seasons were on the line.

and when christchurch has 12 games a year we'll talk.

perhaps the warriors should take a couple of games a season down there to see if the trend continues.

the warriors are a disgrace. they call themselves the new zealand warriors (well they do when they are not using Vodafone in their name), the country follows them blindly (as shown in the 20k crowd in Christchurch) yet they do nothing to promote league outside of Auckland

Don't understand the love it or leave it mindset of the Auckland fans.

will be booking tickets in the next few days for the game in adelaide...not sure about the crowd. Havent seen any advertising and i think we might lose a few cos of the storm scandal, as seen in perth a couple of weeks ago.

the only RL news we have gotten all year here, is the storm scandal...no exaggeration...so, reckon it might hurt us.

I would prefer a Perth team to a CC team.

Purely because a Perth road trip sounds better then a trip up the freeway...

No advertising?

The TV ads are all over the place from what I've been hearing...

Thousands of tickets left for Origin 3 apparently. Pretty disappointing. Did QLD still sell out Suncorp when NSW were on a winning streak? Is Cam Smith right? Do QLDers have more passion? I wonder what sort of crowd they'll end up getting. I'm gonna guess 35,000. What's the lowest Origin crowd at ANZ? I think Weds game will set that record.

I think your post is moronic for 2 main reasons.

1 - Even when we don't sell out ANZ we still have a bigger crowd than the capacity of suncorp. So even if QLD did pack out suncorp when they were losing the crowds would still have been smaller than what NSW are getting.

2 - There will be more than 35,000 there. I think the crowd will be down but will still be higher than suncorps capacity.

I still wouldn't blame NSW fans for not showing. I think game 2 this year is one of the worst if not the worst SOO performance of all time. It's one thing to lose but to see a rep team in a game which is supposed to be all about passion barely even care about the game, its a bit disheartening as a fan.

When 2 players can't even be bothered to get to the bus on time why should the fans fork out to come and watch them go through the motions?

I don;t understand RL fans at all, in other sports the big games will sell well regardless of opposition, performance etc. Look at the socceroos when they are playing some unknown Int team or the Wallabies or even the cricket to some degree. If I was in Sydney I wouldn;t miss a SOO or test match game for love nor money, regardless of how my State was travelling. We don;t seem to get a sense of "event" around RL games like other sports manage to hype up. Probably all the more reason for playing one game in each State and the other in an expansion city.

You say that ANZ sells more than Suncorp, which is obviously true. QLD sells 50,000 tickets in half an hour. How long does it take NSW to sell that many tickets. It's almost guaranteed that if Brisbane had a stadium as large as ANZ they'd sell it out. I really think they'll struggle to sell more than Suncorp's capacity. We'll se, huh? 35,000 may be low, sure. I might revise that to 45,000.

you f**king muppet, Suncorp sells out in 30 mins, the only reason the capacity is only 52k is because of the short sighted attitude of the qld government at the time, if we had an 80k seater stadium, it would sell out in about 2 hours, don't think otherwise.

Maybe their tickets sell that quick because they are in shorter supply and people know they have to get in quick?

Regardless what your saying is purely hypothetical. Brisbane may be able to fill ANZ every game. However the fact is that NSW bring more fans to every SOO game than QLD currently do.

Your previous post suggested otherwise so i responded to that.

You can't insult NSW for bringing in less fans than QLD when they get more every game.

Read the post i was replying to dip sh*t before you call me out. He suggested that because QLD could sellout suncorp when they are losing that makes them more passionate.

I replied correctly that regardless of whether or not ANZ sells out NSW still have bigger crowds than QLD despite losing more series in a row than either team has before.

You can't bag out NSW for getting bigger crowds than QLD.

Your point about how quick suncorp sells out doesn't mean anything. Events with short supply always sell out quicker. There is no guarantee that if suncorp had 80,000 seats it would sell out.

When QLD actually gets 80,000 to a game than you can go say that all you want. Until than it is all purely hypothetical.
