At the close of nominations at 10.00am Friday 7th October 2011 there were 11 valid nominations received for the Board of Directors for the Penrith District Rugby League Football Club Ltd. The order of the ballot paper for the above elections was determined to be in the following order;

1 Nadim Joukhadar
2 Brian Fletcher
3 Kerry Lowe
4 Stephen Robinson
5 Keith Rhind
6 John Hiatt
7 Don Feltis
8 Terry Heidtmann
9 Greg Alexander
10 Denis Merrick
11 Nigel Highley

I believe this is the Current 9 Board members plus Nadim and Nigel.

Also needed is clarification as to who can and can't vote. After the last election friends of mine weren't sure if you could vote on the $8.80 membership or Football club members could vote

you need to be a active member of the leagues club,Where the confusion came in last year was members of the football club season ticket holders could not vote. They now can as long as they activate the leagues club membership that is now included in there package.
Now this can only be done in person at the club once done they can vote

Good Morning Penrith Supporters & Members,

Firstly I would like to state that it is a great honor to once again be nominated for the Panthers 2012 - 2014 Board Elections.

At this stage I feel it is too early to announce the platform/strategy I will be standing on for this election, a key one for the future of our club as it is still 7 weeks from the elections.

I will make some announcements at a later date.

What I feel is important now is to stress that this election is about more than just rugby league, it is also about our licensed operations as well. Although the title of the elections is "Penrith District Rugby League Football Club".

As has been stated above the $8.80 membership has the right to vote and I would like to encourage all members whether your interest be our rugby league operations or licensed club operations to utilise that right and participate in your clubs election. This membership option is included in Ticketed Membership and just has to be activated.

Until closer to the election, I will sign off for now.

Rgds,
Nigel Highley

This was Nigel's response to the support he got from here in 2009:

Firstly I would like to thank anyone who through this forum voted for Steve Mackenzie or myself and would like to congratulate them on actively participating in the election process.

Having read through this topic just a couple of points that I will clarify.

1. Staff of the licensed club are not permitted to vote in the election process or any other voting process associated with the governing of the club. I do believe that staff members of the football club are permitted to vote. In 19 years of employment at Panthers I believe I was allowed to vote on about three occassions in the electoral process.

2. I have read statements that either the two leading candidates or candidates in general were not up to scratch. That is a matter of opinion, it is my opinion that members of any club be it social or sporting should be encouraged to participate at this level of their clubs. As in the case of Panthers it is not as though there is a plethora of businessperson putting their hand up to do such things nor can it be said that all of the current serving directors have solid business acumen.

3. Campaigning can be a very costly process and is limited by the clubs constitution and the OLGR. Voting cards are legal but cannot be distributed within the clubs buildings or on their grounds, so if the clubs staff has received such material, how has it been distributed?

4. Information in regards to the election was limited to signs in the clubs foyer, a few statements on their official website and little pieces on the bottom of advertising in the local media. Members received no information in regards to the candidates or the election via post or email at all. It is my belief that this process needs to be addressed if the board/management want the democratic election process to continue.

One of the many obstacles that we faced as candidates was the new appearance of the clubs premises, very few members would be aware that the club is about to post a $10 - $13 million dollar loss for the 2008/09 financial year. As a long time supporter of this club I hope the board/management are able to address these trading issues without reverting to the selling off of assets.

I will now continue to support our rugby league team and will hopefully be able to suggest some valid recommendations at AGM's in the years to come.

Rgds,
Nigel Highley

If you run next election. All of us will volunteer and get out there to promote you and i should add Steve Mckenzie as well.I have been massivley impressed by the way you have handled the election and after as well
I might even try to rope in our bunny friend Dave Q for a few election ideas. And as you have stated Nigel We now move on support the team both by attending games and have a few soft drinks at the club

For what it's worth it seems that we finally seemed to be getting things right on the football side of things, though IMO it took far to long.

I still have concerns about the way the licensed club side of things is being run and in particular the Penrith site.

i just got a message from Nadim Joukhador who is running for the elections.Nadim has said he is not sure if he can post .So i will post for him .
Nadim is self employed runs his own business. He has a business diploma at university.Nadim often posts under the name nads.I strongly and highly recomend both Nadim and Nigel Highly to become new members of our board. When voting please take your time to make sure they both get your votes first then fill in the rest.
On the voting card Nadim is at the top at no1 Nigel is no12.

IF WE VOTE THE SAME CURRENT NINE IN WE WILL GET THE SAME RESULTS AND NO CLUB CAN STAY OPEN WITH HUGH LOSSES LIKE NOW

Further to Mob's comments I can add that Nadim has lived in the area his whole life. He is a passionate supporter. He is a family man. He has had a very successful career in the finance industry running his own business for many years. Having teenage kids, no doubt would allow Nadim to keep pace with our changing world. I would encourage everyone to get out there and make sure they tell all their friends and aquaintances to vote in this election and support Nadim.

The incumbent board will vote as a block and will ask all their supporters to do likewise. Unless everyone gets off their bums and votes neither Nads or Nigel has a chance. That would be worse than sad because in my opinion we need new blood.
