I'm also of the thought how could anyone possibly bag another team no matter how much you dislike them for posting impressive membership numbers? First he was whingeing about the Rabbits member numbers to crowd numbers ratio and now it's ticketed members to non ticketed members ratio. Could you get any more petty?

Tim likes to pick and choose when it's ok to bag particular clubs on any given category when it suits him, when it doesn't suit him he's the first to ridicule the person doing the bagging and let them know all about how wrong they are. Massively hypocritical behaviour from Tim Tam but it's come to be expected of him all the same.

I'm just asking about the discrepancy - it looks suss. No other team has such a bizarre ratio. The question to me becomes if Souths are counting certain types of memberships that other clubs aren't.

But thanks all the same for being the authority on exactly who I can and can't bag for what reason. Good work, gold star.

No other club has taken as much advantage of this financial route. Not all fans can make it to the ground for one of a million reasons. Yet we've still managed to get 6000+ people forking out their hard earned to support the club for essentially nothing in return.

they do get first go at tickets for the finals...oh wait, yeah, nothing in return.

no it doesn't
Yes it does. Show me any team that could be knocking on the door of 20k members after 3 straight years without making the 8....oh wait you can't.

We make the top 4 this year and we'll have 25k members next year.

It's not a discrepanccy. Just because other teams don't have that doesn't mean we can't. It means we're better at selling memberships. And no we're certainly not counting other types of memberships, infact our memberships are more expensive than the majority of other teams. And unlike some teams we didn't give away any.

Some clubs dont have the same set up as souths with football club memberships.
Two years ago my wife wanted to become a football club member at the Dragons but you have to be nominated by an existing member.
They had/have a Dragons donor program for people who cant attend games but want to donate money, but you recieved nothing in return.
She eventualy got a red V membership, this is why thier numbers between ticketed and non ticketed is close and I gather it is like this for alot of other clubs aswell.
Souths have Ticketed memberships, International memberships, Regional memberships, junior memberships the bunny buddy program and non ticketed football club memberships.
Nothing suss about our numbers, souths just cast a wide net and offer something for everyone.

That's good to know, because I keep hearing otherwise.

No evidence mind you, but I keep hearing it....

Our club has alot of supporters spread all over the place, but we have the most memberships at the moment because we have been pushing them seriously for a longer time than most of the other clubs.

We had to since we do not have a Leagues Club.

I expect all the Sydney clubs to eventually have 20k members of some sort (ticketed and non-ticketed).

And I keep hearing Kennedy was assassinated by 292820 shooters.

No evidence mind you, but I keep hearing it.

Same with the moon landing being faked.

Throw in 9/11 being a conspiracy by <fill in the blank>.

Also I keep hearing the UN and IMF are trying to take over the world with a carbon tax.

Also, apparently Obama is a kenyan-born america hating communist. Either that or a Nazi.

List goes on. Lots of people hear lots of things without any evidence supporting it. Doesn't make it true.

Edit: let's not forget the world ending in 2012.

Oh and they also count as ticketed, because they give them tickets to every home game. Guess it doesn't really explain the 66% ticketed then, as this would help that number.

The souths cares charity gives a membership to an underprivileged kid with every $50 donated.

http://www.rabbitohs.com.au/News/Souths-Cares/Bunny-Buddies-Memberships-Distributed-This-Week.html

25th March 2010. If they had already given away 450 by March, how many did they give out total?

Oh and they also count as ticketed, because they give them tickets to every home game. Guess it doesn't really explain the 66% ticketed then, as this would help that number.
Trust someone like you to try and have a go at charity.

Those memberships still aren't free. Yes the underprivileged kid doesn't have to pay for it but someone else does. Existing Souths members pay for it.

It isn't the same as what Manly did, giving away memberships for $0 to any kid who wanted it. HUGE difference.

Say what you want. You're still giving away memberships to poor kids who don't want them just so you can bump up your numbers.

Parra 11,140 members on their website. Just broke through last year's total of 11,133. Not bad considering last year they were coming off a grand final and this year they are coming off a crap season.

We just need the Storm and the Cowboys to beat their totals to achieve the 'grand slam' of every team beating last year's totals.

Cowboys probably won't get there, but staring the season with 2 wins from 3 will help.

They earn them by performing well at school combined with good attendance, maybe the other clubs should consider this considering the AFL is in most schools now with Aus kick.

lol at the few piss ant people on here that are taking these membership numbers to seriously.
Whats next, the "my dad's tougher than yours" argument.

Who cares who has the most, the important thing is that most clubs have grown.

How dare we give disadvantaged kids a safe and clean form of entertainment every week or two.

And noone who doesnt want them is getting them. It might be a little hard to believe from your ivory tower but there are fans out there who want to but cant afford to follow the game properly. If they do well in school and stay out of trouble they get rewarded by Souths Cares. It is a brilliant initiative and only the dumbest of the dumbdumbs would find something to criticize about it.
