Id prefer they got food and clothes rather than a souths hat and tickets to games in sydney when they live at coffs.

Souths is a football club so giving something football related makes sense.
Maybe you should contact your local MP and see what the govt. can do in regards to clothing and food.
You might want to contact your club and get them to do something similar if it will help bump up your numbers. Because thats why your knocking it, right?

They are handed out by souths players involved in the teachers aide program in the local schools.
They include everything thats in a junior ticketed membership so its a bit more than a hat and ticket, its also more than what the Dragons are doing.

Not having a go at them for doing it - it's fantastic, it's charitable - but it's not very honest when it comes to membership tallies.

It's not paid for by the club and they are $60, only $10 cheaper than a normal junior ticketed membership and only $20 cheaper than an adults red V 6 game pass which are also counted towards memberships.

Would it be dishonest if you bought 10 bulldogs season tickets and gave them out to kids in your area for doing well at school?

If the bulldogs started a similar program would you object?

It would be a good idea if all clubs started similar programs now that the AFL is trying to push in on league and in schools with Aus kick.
A small minority of people on here are missing the big picture and are to wrapped up in the numbers.

Here is the link if anyone wants to check it out or donate.

Alot is paid for by clubs sponsors.

Afl give out free tickets, bags and balls bu dont count them as memberships or charity, which is what im disagreeing with.

That said, every kid who plays footy gets their footy card for free entry anyway. We obv need a similar program to the auskick one. But giving away memberships and writing it off as charity is bs.

The only charity it serves is $ouff$ as they do get a payment from ANZ stadium depending on how many people they get through the gate.

This idea was thought up by a souths member from another forum, who I think is also a sponsor. Not all sponsors are multi million dollar companies.

Like you said "the AFL GIVES out bags and balls" the souths packs are paid for by other members.

Last year we gave out roughly 500 packs,if it makes the petty people here feel better take 500 off our 19900 odd total members and 500 off our 12000 season ticket holder totals.

If you boys are so concerned about which club has the biggest membership dick, why dont you forget the total numbers and add up how much each club makes off memberships? Money is what its all about, right?

How many GWS passes do you think will be handed out to kids in all western sydney schools next year?

$100,000 per game regardless of crowd size.
Whats your point and what does it have to do with memberships?

Absolute rubbish. Our deal at ANZ does not depend on how many attend. Not sure of the amount per game we are locked into, but whatever the amount is,its the same wheather 5,000 or 30,000 punters turn up.

Given out thousands obviously. But the point was bunnies supporters come in here trying to sprout they have the most memberships and none are given away.

We have established they do. Point proven.

You choose to believe they give them away, giving them away would involve the club receiving no money for the packs.
The only thing that has been proven is that a small minority on here cant get past the pissing contest.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

I love it - just dismissing someone's legitimate argument as a "pissing contest".

You have presented something people believe may not be fact, and are arguing against it. If clubs weren't being rewarded by the NRL by having the most members by a certain date - I'm quite certain people wouldn't quite as frustrated by what appears to be a misrepresentation by a club regarding it's membership base.

Just a thought.

We have established no such thing. Each and every one of our memberships have been paid for. That is different to some other clubs. That was my original point.

And the fact that a small percentage of our memberships happen to be a result of charity and generosity does not make them inferior to other memberships.

Ok so souths sells 14 game ticketed memberships plus packs for $60?

At least 20% of the memberships with donated by major sponsors so effectively giving them a 5k tax write off for donations to "charity" when instead they give out tickets to 14 matches plus packs and another number to add to their ticketed memberships total.

You guys going to start doing ticketed memberships for dogs for $20? Cats for $10?

Such a cheap way to try and grab memberships, by trying to write it off as charity. Most other clubs encourage charitable donations to go to charities, not to giving an extra number in the race for $50,000.

I have argued plenty of times that all clubs should increase their memberships, as it all makes the clubs stronger financially.

Having the pissing contest is fun, but then we get people like you that want to bang on and on and on, so lets talk about facts.

What some clubs do is discount the shiate out of GA season passes, and then try to pass them off against full paying supporters at other clubs:

Adult, GA 12 Games:

Bulldogs $95
StGeorge $140
Souths $210

Family, GA 12 Games:

Bulldogs $220
StGeorge $340
Souths $500

So before you feign horror about some of our supporters buying some memberships for children who cannot afford it, why should we equally treat both of your clubs discounted season passes?

I am not even looking at the 6 games packages (StGeorge $85).

It is embarrassing that someone had to point this out.

Full season ticketed membership can be priced in whatever way or shape it likes, it's still full season membership. It's still being paid for.

What a ridiculously DUMB argument.
