Most clubs have bugger all non ticketed members so it probably wouldn't make that big of a difference.

Also i though some of the numbers in there (like the titans) were ticketed only.

Last year a couple of teams had a good 5k difference. Yeah Titans, Panthers & a couple of others don't. The culture is slowing changing what's this the 2nd or 3rd year its been heavily pushed. Yet ALL teams should at the least be between 5-10K. Give it another couple of years everyone should be over 10k possibly 15k. So its good to see

I can remember Souths struggles to get 5000 members 4 years ago. Now there pushing for 20,000 . So it is possible for every club to get over 10,000.

I think the fans will grow from being fans to Members quickly with the help of NRL campaigns.

For instance the West Tigers. They need to turn there big fan base into membership. They are aiming for 10,000 this year which will be a great achievement for the club. I believe they should be aiming for 20,000 in the next 5 years.

The tigers are in a weird situation. The reason they struggle for memberships is because they play out of so many grounds IMO. However despite their poor membership numbers they are regularly amongst the top (if not the top) drawing team in Sydney.

a bit short-sighted to say that real fans are members, that all fans should become members.

i'm a member at the raiders, because i live in canberra and can get to games to get value from the membership.

but i doubt that many people who don't live in proximity to their team would be buying full ticketed memberships, because whilst it's all well and good to want to support your club - well, times are tough, am I really going to spend $300+ on something that i'm getting no utility from?

I'm not a member of the West Coast Eagles or Melbourne Victory for this reason, and when I leave Canberra I'll probably ditch my Raiders membership.

The point is that people won't sign up just so they can feel like they belong - there has to be some value to them. Given that currently the only currency that a membership offers you is entry to games (i'll ignore the generally crappy member packs that you get with them), how is an NRL club going to get 20,000 members? Most of them can't get that many to matches, and it stands to reason that if you can't get 20,000 people to the game, you can't get 20,000 members.

This is where playing games on the road can become a big plus for membership to new areas. Either half of Sydney has moved to Perth recently or the South's memberships are selling well here as I have seen heaps of cars with Rabbitohs stickers on them. Clubs could boost their memberships by 10%+ by taking one or two games to a city with no NRL team every year and really marketing themselves to fans of that city.

I'm not saying every fan has to get a fully ticketed membership worth hundreds of dollars. I know a lot of people can't get too many games, and the cost can be too much for people on a limited budget. But all clubs have an affordable lower end package. Every fan should get one of those.

Can't believe Storm's memberships are not on sale yet?! You'd think after last season they would want to be flogging memberships and trying to rebuild some bridges.

It is funny, a lot of Souths members are members but I only see them at 2-3 games per season.

It is amazing the amount of people that fork out the money for membership and don't show to games. I suppose I'm one of those as I probably make 70% use of my membership season ticket. Even if I don't show up for games I see it as the best investment to my club.

And $300 bucks for a season ticket is nothing to me compared to the joy the game of Rugby League gives me. I went out on the town the other week and spent $200 bucks on the following drinks, 2 cabs, entry to a club and a kabab.

So a membership is awesome value to me compared to the other things I waste money on.

I look at it as a getting behind the club too, even though I have no chance to go to all of the games.

I certainly could get to more if the whole season was set, but that is another issue.

 at $200.

I would think that if they managed to get a fixed, full draw in advance a greater number of members would go to all of the games. Really not fair that fans at the minute are buying season tickets for games they dont know the exact date and time for!!

Wests Tigers have a great program for STH as well whereby if you know you will not make particular matches you can inform the club and donate your seat for those games and it will be given to uynderpriveledged or needy kids etc.
