They do have the best fullback in the NRL tho

I don't know why people continually post this crap. Everyone knows Wesser is the best in the NRL. Do people not remember his 2003 season? Also, how good is he on the game on playstation. BunniesMen knows Wesser is the best, so you all should too. Slightly followed by Vaivai. Then maybe Dugan and co.

Nathan Merritt is far superior to Vaivai and Dugan.

Souths have passed 10,000 Ticketed Members for 2011. Well done to all who have renewed or signed up!

How the farq is Dugan the best fullback in the game? :|

Slater & Hayne are around on par as the best - Stewart and Boyd probably next, then Dugan. Barba will sh*t it in by the end of the season though

You forgot Mitch Brown, he has them all covered. :D

Good to finally have an update. Going by the percentage of last year's members they already have, the Titans have had a brilliant run already going past their 2010 number, a lot of clubs are at 80 or 90% and look to be on their way to solid growth this year. Just 3 clubs (not counting Storm) below 70%. Raiders are understandable, with Campese's injury and the terrible Monaghan headlines. Knights numbers should kick on with the positive Tinkler news.

Only the Sharks would be dissapointed. With just 57% of their already mediocre number from last year I think it wouldn't be a good look if they go backwards from last year. They are a club that needs every cent they can get.

BunniesMan,
let me be the first to congratulate Souths on their numbers.
Great stuff , even though some of their members wouldn't know Wally Lewis from Ziggy Niszcot. (Oprah, Leno, etc)

Also, St.George Illawarra, excellent job. Expected after their premiership success, and may I suggest the limited seating at Kogarah would no doubt make it more important for some members so as to ensure a regular grandstand seat.

I agree with BunniesMan; Cronulla and Raiders are disappointing.
The Monaghan incident must have taken a huge toll.
Hopefully their numbers will rise soon as a big year is expected.

Penrith always surprises me. A largish region with a huge amount of juniors but have limited members and fans.
Anyone from Penrith on here? What's the deal? Do a lot of Penrith people go for other Sydney teams?

I've heard from Penrith types that a lot of people that live in the area now grew up in other parts of Sydney, supported different Sydney clubs and when they moved to the Penrith area for it's relatively affordable housing they kept their old team.

Others have said the Panthers don't do a great job of interacting with the community and selling memberships (and the season tickets that go with it) so people prefer to just watch on tv.

It could be one or both of those reasons or something completely different. Also don't forget they only arrived in '67 along with the Sharks (who are the other smallish Sydney team). By then a lot of the tribalism in Sydney amongst the older clubs was already well defined. And with many of us supporting the teams our parents did it was always going to be tough for the new Sydney teams to break into that culture of tribalism.

Some of what Bunniesman posted is pretty close. I am a Panthers supporter & was raised in the area. I too am sometimes surprised at our member numbers. Although bear in mind all our members are ticketed. Souths for example are at 18000 odd with 10k ticketed. Great result of course but Penrith could look better if there were more member packages to make up numbers. Penrith has plenty of supporters, problem is most people out this way also have Foxtel. A lot of people I know are fans but they prefer to buy merchandise, they go to the odd game but prefer to watch on Telly.

Teams below 70% (Newcastle, Sharks, Canberra, Cowboys borderline) have got to be a bit worried with less than 2 month til the start of season. No excuse not to improve on last years numbers.

We could see the Knights with a late surge on the Tinkler news (depending on the voting).

The only team with an excuse is the Storm. But it is due to their own ineptitude.
