eg Illawarra have not contributed financially to the JV at all. In fact, they are only a 25% owner these days.

While it is obviously true that the llawarra DRLFC has contributed less financially than St George, the club has made direct financial contributions and has also made various indirect and non-financial contributions. The Illawarra DRLFC also continue to own 50% of the joint venture entity.

WIN television bought half of Illawarra's share of the merger.

http://steelers.com.au/PDF/Annual-Financial-Report.pdf

You really need to stop taking what you read in the media as gospel.

The Company has a 50% (2009: 50%) interest in a joint venture St George Illawarra Rugby League Football Club Pty Limited, whose principal activity is the propagation and promotion of rugby league. The joint venture partner is St George District Rugby League Football Club Limited. The joint venture entity was incorporated in Australia on 3 November 1998.

Note 11, page 28.

The nature of the WIN transaction was not understood by the journalists who reported it. WIN Corporation loaned the Illawarra DRLFC money on friendly terms (i.e. with no interest) in exchange for the right to appoint one director to the board of the Illawarra DRLFC and one director to the board of the St George Illawarra RFLC.

No equity was exchanged. Refer also to note 19 of the financial statements.

If Easts have a good year and Parra have another bad one it isn't entirely out of the question that 'no fans' Roosters could overtake ANOTHER one of the 'big 5' sydney clubs

Roosters should beat the Tigers for STH numbers this year.

For whatever reason our crowds keep growing but our memberships not so much.

A few more sell outs at Leichhardt and Campbelltown would probably spur people into a STH option though

That's a hands-down winner in the 'highest amount of cheap, non-ticketed memberships sold by an imaginary team that isn't officially competing in 2013' category. Good effort.
I reckon Manly may rival that. Giving away free memberships to under 9s may be a good long term marketing strategy, but I don't think such "memberships" should be included in the overall numbers. Anyone know if they are?

Yes I agree Adam. The other thing people forget many Roosters fans are already members of the SFS and thus do not need to buy a ticketed membership, so many just end up buying a non-ticketed membership.

If at all.....anyone got an idea on how many SFS members there actually are?

Can't believe the NRL website has still not been updated about "The Battle of the Beaches". Still no finals scores or winner??!?!

I didn't actually read the article, but when are these numbers supposed to be from? Surely the sharks should be higher than that.
