The $10k is an advertising grant...They should put it straight back into marketing, keep getting those members.

The 10 grand may not be a large figure in the overall cost of running a club however, if it's used to generate more members it's a handy amount. The Dragons have purchased advertising on our local bus service. It may cost more than 10 grand, but every little bit helps.

My membership costs about $10 more per game for reserve seating, better bar, food, toilet facilities and an bonus to be able to purchase final tickets ahead of general release.

The club must spend bucket loads on it's Red V membership program however, there was an increase of 4000 members and about 2 million on merchandise in 2010. A successful season was a massive advantage, but that big money.

All clubs are doing their best to increase memberships which makes them stronger however, the more revenue they receive the more they can give back to it's supporters.

The Red V is part of me.

The big problem St.George Illawarra has is the lack of available seating at Kogarah & WIN. It's great to grow memberships but ultimately fans want to get a comfy seat at the game. Dragons will need to seriously consider moving some of their bigger games to the SFS.

Ideally the Dragons would play all their home games against the other big sydney teams (Souths, Bulldogs, Eels, Tigers) at the SFS. It would be better for them and better for the game.

I don't agree with this, the fans love sitting on the hill, and those that don't can sit in the grandstand. I've also never met a Dragons fan who wants matches moved to the SFS - they all seem to be dead against the idea, and rightly so.

Whether the older fans like it or not, I think Saints will eventually consider a 4-4-4 split Wollongong-Logarah-SFS. If their memberships keeps growing they will either have to consider this or heavily raising prices

Heavily raise prices imo. Once we get all the memebers in, and start getting some waitlists then raise the prices... supply and demand.

How sick would it be if every game was sold out pre season. Premier league style.

How "sick" would it be when no working class people can afford to go and watch the working class's game, and only because a club is too stubborn to take a handful of games up the road, make equally as much money and let every fan see it.

More people watch it on tv then, more for tv rights. Better than then become like the soulless homebush rabbitohs.

With all the redevelopments going on at Kogarah and Wollongong i don't think the dragons will be moving games away. Remember the massive uproar from saints fans when it happened in the past?
Taking games to the SFS would do nothing for their crowds and probably lead to a decrease in their membership numbers.

People need to realise that ground rationalisation will not work in sydney.

Not really. The Roosters crowds are still ordinary, boosted by obvious outliers each season. Souths' crowds could be better too.

More like NFL, where they have to put the effort in too sell out the stadium otherwise the local tv stations are not allowed to show the game. The so called big 4 + Spurs are probably the only ones close to a completely sold out season.

Still stunned at the numbers signed up by the so called lesser supported teams in sydney this week. The next contest could really go off into the 2 or even 3K range.

I am 100% certain Souths would get better crowds at the SFS. 10 minutes up the road from Redfern and Maroubra, their main heartlands, vs 40 mins...But if ANZ is paying them to play there, whatever

I would be massively impressed if they could post those sort of numbers conisdering how many have already signed up (particularly souths)

I would prefer we played at the SFS, but it does pay the bills.

That said, outside the SFS, there is no other ground in Sydney with the same facilities for the supporters. As members we have our own lounge, and can stand in there and drink watching the game, easy to get from the carpark to your reserved seat etc.

I enjoy going to grounds like Leichhardt, as it is down the road, but to go there for 12 home games every year (for example)?

Lets face it, we still had the 5th best home crowds in the game behind Broncos, Dogs, Tigers, Titans.
