Oh okay so when you said what the f**k you were just trying to be cute, gotcha.
It's a staple of mine. Hardly spitting the dummy.

Played an inspirational game while injured in Game 2 2009. True, Scott and Shillington have probably crept in front of him but as I said Hannant is going to be in the team regardless. Starting or off the bench doesn't matter to me.
Crept ahead of him? You compare what the three have done in SOO, and then talk to me about who's creeping anywhere.

As for your spiel about Taylor, you do realise he played both prop/second row? You even said so yourself. With two props on the bench, he'd obviously come onto play second row, a luxury he didn't have last time.
Replacing a backrower doesn't mean you're playing back row. Everything he did in defence and attack, other than standing out near Inglis a few times, was the play of a prop.

Well Hannant was a mainstay before either two in 2008-2009 and the only reason they came in was because Hannant was injured.

So yeah, crept up on him.

Except running on the fringe in game two and being positioned as a second rower a fair amount of the time.

To say he exclusively played as a prop is silly. Almost as silly as saying Hunt was a better half than Prince.

Maroon Faithful: Ben Hannant is an awesome player and I'd start him in Origin, too.

You keep talking as though you're an expert in the game at a higher level than the rest of us fans. But if you cannot see that Ben Hannant is one of the best 4 props in QLD then I think you're a clown. Personally I think Ben Hannant will be the next Lazarus if he remains injury free. While Shillington is the fan's favourite at the moment (and fair enough) - and Scott is the high achiever - when Ben gets his chance again - he will possibly show he is just on that next tier above.

But don't take my word for it - take it from Petero and Pricey as they said in 2009 - Ben Hannant is THE BEST PROP in the game.

They've flown right passed him. Hannant is yet to do anything significant for QLD.

I said no such thing. I said Mal uses him as a prop, and that he shifted out wider but didn't do anything there.

Almost as silly as saying Hunt was a better half than Prince.
I didn't say that either. You're a mod ffs, and you go around misquoting and misrepresenting people. Give yourself an uppercut.

Where did I say any different? Wtf is wrong with you people here on LU? Can you actually read what's written or what?

And until then, he can wait his turn. Dropping Scott to the bench after he played superbly, is downright disgraceful.

Oh well that clinches it... FMD.

Mal uses him as both a prop and a second row. You originally came along going off at me for selecting three props, I said Taylor would be played as a second row and you still haven't accepted that because he had a couple of runs in the mid-field...as well as on the fringe.

I didn't say that either. You're a mod ffs, and you go around misquoting and misrepresenting people. Give yourself an uppercut.

I was being facetious, lighten up would you?

Queensland teams have rarely been selected purely on form. You going to drop Petero to the bench or even from the squad even though his form is behind the others? Really?

So you know more about props and propping than Price and Petero...

Who are you... Marty Bella or Artie Beetson? Even if you're Sam Backo you really cannot dispel the opinions of those 2 so quickly.

With Petero, Shillo, Scott and Hannant supported by Myles then it does not matter what NSW throw at Qld up the middle. Personally I see League as a 17 man game and I think all four players will be proud and happy to be in the 17 somewhere. "Relegated to the bench" is hardly an insult for a prop in a rep game, and even it were - only Petero should take offence. Scott is a great player - but he can hardly be insulted for starting from the bench should that be the way the selectors go.

Matt Gillett has continued hes great form from last season, if he can stay injury free he will go very close to making an origin debut.

seems pretty obvious what the team for game 1 will be

slater, boyd, inglis, hodges, either vidot or yoh yeh, lockyer, thurston, d;johnson, myles, harrison, scott, c.smith, and civinoceva, with the bench of cronk, thaiday, shillington, and hannant

i think vidot was in front before the season began for the vacant wing spot, but yoh yeh might have passed him on form

i'd like to include dave taylor, but dont want him playing tight, so only if one of the 4 backrowers go down, does he make it [thaiday as well i dont want to use as a prop, marty kennedy is next if one of those 4 get injured]

willie tonga is next of course if a centre gets hurt, but not a winger
scott prince covers the halves

Not sold on DJ returning to the team.

I realise he will, but Id probably stick with Ash Harrison.

The loss of Costigan will hurt more than most people realise. Dave Taylor simply is unable to play his role as he's just not tough enough.

Costigan's been a very underrated contributor in recent years.

Its either Harrison or Johnson, not both imo.

Tonga is light years ahead of Yow Yeh and Vidot. Both would be huge liabilities in the back line.

01. Slater
02. Boyd
03. Inglis
04. Hodges
05. Tonga
06. Lockyer
07. Thurston
08. Civoniceva
09. Smith
10. Scott
11. Thaiday
12. Harrison
13. Myles

14. Cronk
15. Hannant
16. Shillington
17. Gillett

^Take off your Bronco glasses, Gillett isn't making the team unless there's injuries.
He's not that good, yet.

He was disappointing last night. Its really the only contentious position in the QLD imo. The rest of the team is pretty straight forward.

Taylor, Crocker, Gillett, Costigan?

That was actually Gillett's best game of the season, he's been really disappointing. I'd easily take Taylor before him.

I really don't like having Tonga on the wing, when is Tuqiri back? We're really going to miss Folau.

Once Costigan recovers from injury, he should easily be picked over Taylor, Crocker and Gillett

Why not? Tonga is one of the best defensive backs in the game, hes played superbly for QLD both in the centres and on the wing.
