Good news.

Want this to be as great a contest as possible. Origin wouldn't mean as much without the NSW captain playing.

Well, I think the NSW is starting to take shape, and will probably be better off with a couple of recent injuries. Still a handful of spots up for grabs but I would go for;

1. Dugan/Stewart
2. Uate
3. Lawrence
4. Jennings/J Morris
5. Hayne/McManus
6. Carney
7. Pearce
8. Woods
9. Farah
10. Douglas
11. Gallen
12. Stewart
13. Lewis

14. Hinchcliffe
15. Tamou
16. T Williams/Mannah/Tolman/Galloway
17. Sims

That side will give Qld a run IMO.
Mind you, I think Hayne is hopelessly out of form but he makes a wing spot out of default and the fact he shouldn't be playing anywhere else. IMO.

Okay so i have finally come to a conclusion on my side

1. Stewart - Dugan is a great player but Stewarts defense and organisational qualities are key
2. Hayne - Out of form, but an Origin player
3. Jennings - Likewise with Hayne, put him outside Carney and watch him go
4. Lawrence - Probably lucky that that there is a lack of competition in the centres atm)
5. Uate - Obviously
6. Carney - Best half NSW has, despite the fact he is a grub
7. Pearce - Deserves his place
8. Gallen - Thank god he wasn't ruled out
9. Farah - never rated Ennis personally
10. Mannah - Soak up the pressure early and provide quick play the balls
11. Lewis - Obviously
12. Watmough - steps up for the blues
13. G Stewart - Second best forward NSW have

14. Bird - Proven SOO player
15. T-Rex - Unleash Hell son
16. Tamou - See above
17. Tariq Sims - See above

18. Hinchcliffe

- All this utility talk is garbage, if they are not one of the best 17 in NSW dont pick em, Lewis, T-Rex, G Bid and G Stewart all offer versitility

- Impact players off the bench, imagine Tamou, Williams and Sims coming on after 20!

- None of Hayne, Lawrence and Jennings are in the best form but Jennings and Hayne have proven what they can do and Lawrence beats out a poor field (Morris boys are not SOO material)

- Mannah just edged Merrin imo, but wouldnt argue the other way around

GO NSW!

Great side Disco. Doubt Sticky will pick it though! There will be a utility and one stupid selection. Ther always is. Haha not even a single Dragons players in the side (Not that I care) to the best benefit of NSW that's the best team we can name in many aspects and can shape to be a great team. I think the player that wil prove to be a great asset to NSW is Tamou and Sims. They will unleash absolute hell and can be a serious x-factor in our go forward. Paired with Carney giving drawing the defense line with his quick footwork then passing to those players to smash a line in the defense will be an interesting prospect.

Up the blues!

Out of curiosity, how has Josef Lailua played for the roosters? Haven't watched
Many lf there games, but from what I saw of him in city vs country, he shows great promise and is definitely a player of the future.

Obviously a bit biased as I'm a Dogs fan but Morris did pretty well on the right for us which surprised me. Have only seen a couple of Lawrence games and one he was at five-eighth, do people think he's the man for RC?

Jennings and JM seem to be neck and neck for me, but again, seen all the Dogs games and a handful of Penrith. Jenning did very well last year though.

Disco, you wouldn't have Woods?

IMO, he's probably the best young prop in the game and could play origin for 10 years. Also, it puts Gallen in his preferred position in the backrow, further strengthening the NSW pack.

It's ok guys. The overrated novocastrian has spoken:

Kurt Gidley backs Jarrod Mullen for NSW Origin bench spot
Barry Toohey
From: The Daily Telegraph
May 08, 2012 12:00AM

INJURED Blues star Kurt Gidley has anointed his Newcastle Knights team-mate Jarrod Mullen to fill his utility role in the NSW Origin squad, declaring Mullen has the 'X-factor' to make a difference off the bench against the Maroons.
Gidley, who was told yesterday his season is officially over and will go in for shoulder surgery next Tuesday, says of all the potential contenders for the bench role, he believes Mullen offers the most value.
"In the role, you don't get a lot of time on the field so you need someone who can come on when called on by Ricky (coach Stuart) and spark something," Gidley said. "Take advantage of a tired opposition.

"Mullo has great acceleration, he's strong and I think he has shown everyone this season how good his defence is now.

"His kicking game out of dummy half if he comes on at hooker is another string to his bow and he can cover quite a few positions elsewhere.
"I think he would be a great option for the Blues. Playing the dummy-half role won't faze him at all."
Gidley said he spoke to former Blues great Andrew Johns about Mullen on Sunday at the Knights-Roosters game: "Joey thinks Mullo would more than handle it and I reckon he would as well,"he said.
"Nothing against some of the other players being thrown up - they are all quality players."

Gidley's worst fears about his own playing future were realised yesterday when he was told his year was over.
The Knights captain has suspected as much ever since he badly dislocated his left shoulder against Penrith a week ago.
But it wasn't until yesterday morning he was told by shoulder specialist Dr Des Bokor in Sydney following scans late last week.
"I'm going in next Tuesday for the surgery," a shattered Gidley said.
"I asked him if there was any chance of just trying to rehab the shoulder again and trying to play on this season.
" He said I could try but he couldn't guarantee it wouldn't dislocate again a week or whatever down the track."

GO NSW!

I just can't agree with selecting Stewart at lock, ball playing forwards generally struggle with the pace of origin and he's not going to provide you any go forward. He just doesn't tick enough boxes for me to be a SOO lock.

Fensom on the other hand is an awesome defender and will provide you with plenty of go forward.

It's almost a no-brainer imo especially when you factor in that you want Farah to play the full 80.

Gippsey - woods looks a great prop but its a bit too soon for me atm. Next year onwards i'd have him in the frame

RWB - Stewart played great in game 3 last year and would have won the Dally M last year had it not been for his dust up with Blair, he is absolute class and as i said, the best forward we have besides Gallen
