Belrose played in Bundy for 3 or 4 years. They still have players from that era - James Mortimer, Lee Cameron, Shannon Cameron, Dave Marando and Jim Curtis. Clint Lowe played Bundy with Asquith in their previous participation and Jason Wells played a game with the Roosters in NRL a few years ago. I was surprised when Hills beat them 36-10 in Oamps.

There are 5 strong sides in Sydney Shield - Wenty, Cabra, Mounties, Hills and Belrose.

Yeah Belrose have some quality players in that side.
Lowe is now at Asquith, played for them in Sydney Shield on the weekend.

Great start to the 2013 RM and SS competitions though, wenty went down in a tough one, wests got an upset, cabra got up but they let a few points on the board but they did have only 12 players for the majority of the match. Kinsgrove, well looks like its gonna be another long season for them. Entrance and blacktown getting up. I am surprised and still cant believe the amount of talent in the SS competition. Big name players playing SS include:
Ben and casey ellis, Sam brunton and vinnie uelese- mounties, casey and ben and sam all played bundy for cabra last year with ben making the bundy rep side. Vinnie played NSW cup last year now cant even get a run in RM cup.
Ben fritz and jarred azar - wenty both played toyota cup last year for parra. Just shows theres a massive gap between 20's and RM level.
James uhatafe, Fetongi tuiavanu, Hala katoa, Aaron teariki and Jason cook- Cabramatta. James played bundy all year for auburn last year, while Hala and jason played bundy for cabra last year with Hala making the bundy rep side. Fetongi i think played in the country but has represented tonga at world cup level while aaron played NSW cup last year west Magpies.
Manasa Vuadreu- burwood. Manasa played bundy for burwood all last year, strong ball runner.
These a just a few of what i can see in the teams but im sure theres way more. RM squads must be tough to get in with all these players playing SS. but like i asid before i wonder how many players will actually stick around to play SS when they can play RM. Wenty vs Cabra this week will be a cracker of game.

Chris Lowe is the one that has gone to Asquith, Clint Lowe is still at Belrose.

And Roland Wellsy played a handful of games for Manly, started at the Bulldogs, then Manly, then went to Newtown, never actually got a game for the Roosters

Apologies, I knew he had played top grade and I assumed it was via Newtown ie Roosters but in fact 3 games for Manly in 2007.

RMC

Windsor 50 Wests 22
Mounties 38 BNRU 16
Blacktown 40 Kingsgrove 14

SS

Mounties 47 BNRU 46
Blacktown 40 Kingsgrove 4

The Wests game was 16-16 at half time. When the top half play the bottom half, sometimes the lower team can stick with the other side for 40 or 50 minutes but then the higher side pulls away and the score blows out.

The NSWRL Round 2 preview predicted a total margin of 52 points in the 6 games but we are at 76 after the first 3. Maybe closer tomorrow.

Blacktown have now won as many games as last season.

What about that Sydney Shield scoreline!!!

Yes, Groat scored the first try. Wests also had 3 other State Cup players and led 16-0 at one stage.

todays results:

RM
Cabra 24 Wenty 6
Entrance 40 Asquith 28
Auburn 58 Guildford 40

The games were closer today but the smallest margin of the round was 12 points. Don Bradman must have been batting at McCredie - 98 in 80 minutes.

Cabra, Mounties and Windsor look well clear of the other teams at this stage.

SS

Cabra 37 Wenty 30
Belrose 56 Asquith 18
Auburn 36 Guildford 26

Cabra led Wenty 37-6 at one stage before a late surge made the score respectable. Trent Trotter played for Cabra.

Shield ladder

4 Belrose, Cabra, Hills, Auburn
2 Blacktown, Wenty, Mounties, Asquith
0 BNRU, Guildford, Kingsgrove

The defence at McCredie was non existant, there were so many long distance tries scored.

Heka Nanai played Sydney Shield for Auburn.

Heka Nanai played Sydney Shield for Auburn.

It is a real NYC score and Guildford's team list had 7 from Parra's NYC squad but what excuse do Auburn have.

Heka Nanai would be in the top 3 players in the Auburn club. Any idea why he was playing Sydney Shield?

Tere Glassie was listed for Mounties in Sydney Shield. If he played that means in 2 rounds the Shield has featured 6 who have played NRL or ARL in the case of Glassie.

It's clear that most fringe NYC kids are not up to Massey Cup level, and often get dominated physically.

I'm pretty sure Ron Massey is 100 points and Sydney Shield is 60.

Yes RM is 100 but I thought Sydney Shield might also be 100 or no limit at all. 60 points is less than 4 points per player and there are quite a few ex NRL, State Cup and experienced Bundy players in a few of these teams.

Guildford have done some recruiting over the last week with 2 familiar names in this week's side - Anthony Farah at 7 and Charlie Farah on the bench.

Auburn receives its first player from the limited Bulldogs State Cup squad with Gerard McCallum at 7.

Cabra welcomes back the Trotters for their big clash with Mounties but only 4 Newtown players appear in the list. Another 5 players that were in the Cabra team that played Wenty on the weekend are part of an 8 man bench for Newtown this week.

Definatley 100 points for SS, Nanai used 15 points for Auburn SS side, i think they only totalled just over 50 points. They had a few Bulldgos NYC fringe players playing for them.

McCallum played in the centres last week for Auburn, he goes alright, he was Nanai's replacement.

Guildford also had Si'ikaeha Teaupa named to play last week but he didnt take the field. For memory he had a lot of time in Jim Beam/Bundy at Cabra and Guildford
