After demolishing Blacktown by 60 points last weekend, Cabramatta Coach Chris Yates is confident of only one thing theres never an easy game against The Entrance.
With both teams positioned in the top four and almost certain to feature in the finals of the Ron Massey Cup in 2013, this weekends match shapes up as one of the games of the season.
In the ten years Ive been going to The Entrance Ive never had an easy game, Yates said.
Its a funny place (laughs)
the sheds can be full of water and it hasnt rained for three months. Its never easy and this weekend will be no different.
Defeated 28-0 by Premiers Wentworthville last weekend, Yates believes the Tigers will be raring to go to prove the loss to the Magpies was nothing more than an aberration in an otherwise successful start to the year.
I watched the game the other night and Ive probably got Alex (Wentworthville Coach Alex Chan) to thank for our tough weekend ahead after giving them a touch up, he added.
No doubt Jamy (Tigers Coach Jamy Forbes) will have his team fired up and ready for action.
The Two Blues have again been bolstered by their affiliation with the Newtown Jets, with 2012 VB NSW Cup Premiership players Ray Moujalli, Khalid Deeb and Ahmed Elaz all turning out for the team in recent weeks.
Those guys have been great. They have plenty of experience and it has a really positive effect on our team. We have a great relationship with the Jets and Matto (Newtown Jets Coach Greg Matterson) has always been fantastic with allowing those guys to play, Yates said.
When you get guys of that calibre back, you have to control the ball and play the best of your ability to capitalise on what those players can do.
Whilst admitting that this years competition is one of the closest in recent memory, Yates nominated Mounties, a club which several of his players from last years squad joined in the off-season, as the form team of the first six rounds.
They are undefeated for a reason. They really turned up when they played us and we werent good enough on the day to get the win. My good mate Eddie Flahey is doing a great job coaching them and it was tough to buy him a beer at the end of the game, Yates quipped.
Having some guys go to Cabramatta certainly adds to the rivalry, but last time we met most of them were playing Sydney Shield, so it should be interesting when we meet again.
Cabramatta play The Entrance in Round Seven of the Ron Massey Cup at EDSACC Oval, tomorrow, Sunday May 19, kick-off at 3pm.
