They have lost more players from there GF winning squad from last year. Apparently there were 4 or 5 of this years squad not happy with a few things (mainly money) and have left the club.
They have also pick up Dylan Montgomery from Valley United (Manly A Grade). He was a Manly lower grade player, and has been at Valley for a few years. Plays prop, is built like a small apartment block and goes all day. Trying to tackle him is like hitting a pile of bricks...however, chop his legs out and he does not like it one bit! Good bloke though and should help Asquith out as Mark Meredith was no where near the player he has been in recent years. Most of the year he came off the becnch this year and barely made an impact

Your not wrong about Dylan, he is perpetual motion. He played for NSW Country in the Quad Series in NZ in 2006 when he went back to Ballina for a few years.

Any update on Belrose' plans for 2013?

Yeah he was a Ballina junior and I played against him and with him in country rep teams as a junior. There are questions though about how someone that big and ripped can continue to play for 70 mins every week...Its very unusual...I dont want to bad mouth the bloke at all but everyone who has never seen him who comes to watch him play always ask the same questions...and he was never that big when he was young...but ill leave it at that.

As for Belrose, the board have decided to enter a team into the Sydney Shield for 2013...very much welcomed by the playing group with a new coach as well!

Majority of Asquith squad from last year has returned, with only real notable losses at the moment being hooker Daniel Folkes and 5/8 Ben Shaw, but with Aaron Grooms favoured position been hooker Asquith wont lose to much in that department. Getting fringe players back from Norths NSW cup will help them as well. Paul Pollard will coach the Bundy side with his brother Greg taking the reigns of the Sydney Shield

Any news on what the competition will be called seeing as Bundaberg Rum have pulled out of NRL sponsorship, maybe return to Jim Beam?

Sounds like manly/norths A grade could be severely weakened. Used to be one of the stronger comps with a lot of ex grade players

Victim of the board that exists...cant even organise a friggin microphone for grand final day presentations. It is amatuer hour with that lot and only having a 6 team competition last year was a joke. I am also hearing rumours that Valley are looking at their options for next year which would leave 3 clubs in Manly A Grade: Narrabeen, Narraweena, and Manly Cove

Based upon current information in this thread the make up of the respective competitions next season looks to be:

Bundaberg Red Cup
Cabramatta Two Blues
The Entrance Tigers
Auburn Warriors
Wentworthville Magpies
Windsor Wolves
Mt Pritchard Mounties
Burwood-Ryde United
Western Suburbs Magpies
Asquith Magpies
Blacktown Workers
Kingsgrove Colts
North West Wolves

Sydney Shield
Cabramatta Two Blues
Guildford Owls
Auburn Warriors
Wentworthville Magpies
Hills Bulls
Mt Pritchard Mounties
Burwood-Ryde United
Belrose Eagles
Asquith Magpies
Blacktown Workers

That would make it 12 teams in BRC and 10 teams in Sydney Shield. I'd personally like to see 11 teams in each which would allow the competitions to run concurrently and enable more fixtures to be played as double headers. To achieve this I think it would be feasible to play either the North West Wolves or Kingsgrove Colts in the Shield competition, depending upon results in the pre-season.

Kingsgrove struggled throughout 2012 whilst the North West Wolves are largely an unproven entity who may benefit from a year in the Shield before progressing to the Cup competition.

Well it will be 80 minutes in 2013. Good news on Belrose. Maybe Wenty will be under a bit more pressure to equal St George's run of 11 in a row with Belrose there.

Willoughhby, who won the A2s, and North Sydney Brothers are both potentially in the A-grade next year.

Lets hope we can give Wenty a run for their money Roland.....

Girvie with that amount of teams, I am hearing they will be combining the A2 and A grade together into one competition...In all honesty, even if they didnt do that, Willoughby and North Sydney Brothers would not be competitive at all at A Grade level. There is a massive difference in standard between the A2's and A Grade. Forestville were getting done by 30, 40, 50 every game in A Grade and almost won the A2's last year....They will need to recruit and recruit hard but for mine Sunday footy is dying a slow death unfortunately. Not many blokes want to play footy every sunday, it takes away their weekends, another reason why Belrose has gone in Sydney Sheild.

Ramman Sunday footy dead your right. And what needs to happen is to have a combined Sydney A Grade . A Grade out here in Penrith dropping standard each year . Or have the top A grade teams step into Bundy

Penrith have just passed a motion that anyone in the 17 for NSW Cup, Bundy or Sydney Shield on any weekend cannot back up in A grade on the Sydney.

It is a bit academic unless the clubs have connections but what about the guy that gets 10 minutes in the senior comps on a saturday then cant play A Grade.

I am not sure why this might come as a suprise.
This is a typical reaction by junior leagues when they cant get their house in order.
The clubs wants to better themselves and play at a higher level that the junior league cant or wont offer, the players want to test themsleves at the highest possible level, and the junior league is content to drag them all back into mediocrity.

Have Sutherland-Loftus not gone through with their move to Metro Cup or Sydney Shield?

There was an earlier post by Jets Fan (who has the inside info because there are a few ex Newtown players in the SL team) stated that Sutherland Loftus have deferred entry until 2014. This is a pity as they have half a dozen players that are better than anyone in the Blacktown or Kingsgrove teams.

Guildford Owls have entered the 2013 Bundy Cup and Sydney Shield competitions . They are to be coached by former long term coach Steve Ghosn. In a partnership with the Eels NYC team Guildford will supply 8-10 players and parramatta the remaining players from those not selected to play NYC. The remaining NYC squad and a handful on the 2012 Eels NYC players signed for 2013 will make up the sydney shield side. The remaining squad will comprise of Guildford players from Sydney Shield and 2012 C-grade PDJRL runners up.

Apparently there may be 1 or 2 teams from the central coast coming down to play in the Manly Warringah comp. They no longer want to play in the Newcastle comp. This will assist in making up the numbers with some stronger teams.
