2013 Jersey, Logo, Sponsorship Discussion

Not bad for a first year effort. Sets out our primary colour as black with red and yellow secondary colours. I'm sure we will see it evolve over the next few years in time for our admission to the NRL, in about 2050 the way things are going!

Here it is..although it's not much different I don't mind it at all. You would think this doesn't count as a new jersey design. I still think this years 1986 heritage was awesome

Whats the point of even having chest stripes? The sponsor and sidepanels reduce them to nothing.

Concerning the Pirates, Cardinal Sin: none of this merging colours rubbish (on the side panels) like a previous Newcastle jersey. As a matter of fact, they should f**k the side panels off altogether.

I hate to sound like a whinger, but both their strips don't sit well with me at all, but I can't put my finger on why. I just thought they'd go for something "risky" considering their logo.

They really had a chance to put something iconic out. Instead they look like a local football team. Mind you, they probably aren't going to go all out for an SG Ball team, hopefully they improve significantly come NRL time.

Agree don't like the orange sides and would like to have seen the pirates logo embedded on the back, also alternate jersey either scarlet or gold. I am hoping this kit just sets the tone for our clubs key colours and a more exciting design will evolve.

I don't get why you want the logo sublimated onto the jersey. Long term looks are iconic, not tacky.

For me we have gone with a modern, some might say Disney, name and we should now exploit that. We are not going to be an iconic foundation heritage club, we are going to be a modern, youthful sports club that appeals to a new generation of fans who think very differently to us old timers. For that reason I think we go all in and get max benefit from the Pirates branding. If we had stuck with the WA Reds then I would agree with you.

Smearing a giant logo over the body (which will be obscured by sponsor logos) is a bad way of going about it. Titans have made this approach and have one of the least liked design in the league.

Iconic doesn't necessarily mean classic. However, a simple design can still suggest the brand its associated with. Kind of what I was getting at with the ragged V.

Having the logo on the away jersey might be a good idea. Home jersey should be clean though imo.

That's becasue it is with some reworked colours! I reckon Warriors is the best looking jersey out so wanted to see what a Pirates coloured one would look like. Posted it to show that you can put a skull on it without clashing with sponsors etc.

Thats exactly what I hope doesn't happen. I agree it looks better without the sidepanels though. Is it just me or is the skull logo without the wordmark a far superior logo?

Warriors have one of the best ideas, just executed terribly thanks to CCC.

Do you reckon the yellow is going to the gold/yellow in the logo Gazf? I really hope so and that they haven't gone with a bright yellow. Will post a photo of it in the flesh so to speak when it comes out.
