I think another issue people have with the Panthers in brown is that they haven't done it well in the past. The original was ok but everything else was pretty ordinary, hardly timeless:

Wasn't the best look but its one that holds significance in their history.

Overall it wasn't bad. It was good to see the yoke finished square on the shoulders instead of being cut off by the sleeves (I can cop that the brown V was though), shorts and socks were also close to accurate though I think the original socks had white tops and brown stripes.

The jumper on the far top left is by far their best!

Perhaps they could use this style and add a splash of that light blue that they are using in the current strip near the neck area and then this club would finally have a jumper that looks rugby league and will be truly recognizable for future years!

Things made of naturally brown materials such as wood and leather will always look right in brown. But how much brown furniture, flooring and consumer items do you see that aren't either wood, leather or an imitation of wood or leather?

You don't get brown cars any more, white-goods can be found in most colours other than brown. Even brown-goods aren't brown any more. Grocery packaging tends to only feature brown if the product is something brown like chocolate or coffee. Famous brands featuring brown on their logos are virtually non-existent. UPS is about it. I find it hard to believe that no market research has been conducted regarding this. Clearly people don't like it.

The whole "cardboard" aesthetic in design has been popular over the last few years, in fact, there has been a big focus on natural textures and colours in the past decade. Dark brown is generally reserved for premium products - its natural, understated and classy. However, other browns can be cheap and nasty, like the new colour of cigarette packets. Its about using colour appropriately, with the right accent colours and with the right design.

I got a Western Suburbs feel from the jersey last night, I think the Panthers would be better served keeping it simple - predominantly brown with minor detailing. Brown/white is pretty stark too, I'd have a different secondary colour.

I'm probably just showing my age but I really liked the Penrith jersey last night. It looked like a Panthers jersey. I know it's been said a million times on here but the black jersey is just so plain and lacks identity.

Actually, I quite like the vertical brown stripes.

Sure it's a bit soccer, but it would be one of only 2 teams in the NRL with vertical stripes.. and the stripes are far thinner than the Knights ones.

Wonder how that would look with brown & tan stripes instead of Brown & white?

Yes.

Just to show that these debates go around in circles -

The Panther's brown V and brown and white vertical stripes jerseys are superior to their current kit and are better than quite a few jerseys of other NRL teams.

I do hope though that if they were to adopt them that a) they stick with it b) they integrate the sponsors into the brown and white colour scheme

Pretty unprofessional example of bridge burning there from Crowe.

He's got some valid points. We over-delivered in terms of exposure and they are the ones who seem to be acting unprofessionally.

But a huge Easts fan sponsoring us? We live in strange times...

He does, but he was pretty blunt in revealing his irritation - good to see the honesty, but every potential sponsor will examine the behaviour of the club in their dealings with past sponsors, which was what I was trying to say.

Always good to leave on good terms, for your own appearance if nothing else.

I always thought his father was an Easts fan as well. I know he did give Souths 2 million once though, which Packer later said they pissed away.

So in terms of the draw, who will be in pink jerseys this week? Will one team from every game be in pink?

Any pink v pink to look forward to?

I can see crown burswood being keen to sponsor the pirates when we get in, they are expanding the Perth casino and will be keen to get a link up I reckon.
