Brown is the most criminally underused colour in sport. I'd take that dark shade of brown over even the all-sorts colours any day.

Agreed. People on this forum wet themselves over the all sorts jersey, yet I much prefer the brown Penrith strip.

If Brown is so underused in Australian sport, why is the colour of one of AFL's most famous clubs, Hawthorn? :?

1 in over 50 professional Australian teams would fit under my definition of underused. Brown is underused in sport worldwide.

There is a reason for that.

Nobody likes it.

Nothing wrong with it, immature people just can't get over the colour association. Its a common colour everywhere else bar sports. A shade like the Panthers wore last night is close to black but would differentiate them enough from the Tigers, especially since they're also going black next year. Bright accent colours work really well with it as well:

They're supposed to be a working class team but they parade around in prissy teal ffs. Much rather the no nonsense brown.

We are way overdue for a Panthers 1990 throwback (the one they wore before the liquorice all-sorts).

thought the brown looked great. Pity it was ruined by the sleeve sponsors and the poor integration of the sponsor on the front. The sponsors on the back were integrated well I thought.

I think another issue people have with the Panthers in brown is that they haven't done it well in the past. The original was ok but everything else was pretty ordinary, hardly timeless:

Wasn't the best look but its one that holds significance in their history.

Overall it wasn't bad. It was good to see the yoke finished square on the shoulders instead of being cut off by the sleeves (I can cop that the brown V was though), shorts and socks were also close to accurate though I think the original socks had white tops and brown stripes.

I'd love to see Penrith stick with the jersey they wore last night as their full time jersey. It's such a strong and classic design. Black is way overdone in the NRL.

Not really. When was the last time one of the major car manufacturers offered brown in their colour range? That brown and orange of Cleveland in particular just screams 70's, which is still considered very uncool.

Maybe not the outside but a lot cars have brown interiors (woodgrain and some leathers). Plenty of people wear brown every day, buildings, furniture, consumer items. Used correctly, it can be simple, classy and timeless (a light brown Holden Gemini doesn't fit that bill). Cool is subjective, on the other end to the Browns you have these going around in the NFL:

Things made of naturally brown materials such as wood and leather will always look right in brown. But how much brown furniture, flooring and consumer items do you see that aren't either wood, leather or an imitation of wood or leather?

You don't get brown cars any more, white-goods can be found in most colours other than brown. Even brown-goods aren't brown any more. Grocery packaging tends to only feature brown if the product is something brown like chocolate or coffee. Famous brands featuring brown on their logos are virtually non-existent. UPS is about it. I find it hard to believe that no market research has been conducted regarding this. Clearly people don't like it.

Yes, I thought it looked like a RL jumper for a start!

It was refreshing to see as the normal strip is very bland and does not stand out as a RL style jumper.

At least you can instantly recognize that it is a RL jumper!

Never said it was brown, appears that shit comes in a multitude of colours. My argument was that a look like the Browns is more appealing and has far more longevity than most modern "seizures".
