What happens in other sports where membership numbers exceed seating capacity? eg in the NFL, most teams have waiting lists for season tickets, right? But you can still buy tickets for games. Is this a secondary market where ticket holders sell their tickets for individual games?

Yes. There are some official club secondary selling websites for members to offload their seats (for cost price). But the vast majority try and make money on the tickets and sell through 3rd party websites like StubHub.

In the NBA for example it can cost $7k/year to be a Knicks season ticket holder but you could go to half the games and if they are going well (like they are now) you could end up selling the other half of games you don't go to for at least double (which pays off the membership and makes you money).

Having a well organised system like these could really help boost memberships for the NRL too. If you want to be a member but know you can only attend 8 out of 12 games, at the moment you are stuck with 4 games you can't attend, which is a waste. It would be a great thing if you could conveniently sell them (regardless of whether you make a profit).

Parra 6022, not to bad considering we started late and lets face it we have stunk for 3 years.

Some good numbers being posted but i would like to hear from some of the other clubs. Seems like the ones who are most likely to struggle are the ones we haven't really heard from.
