I honestly don't know how we beat Spurs this year to be honest. It speaks volumes about us to struggle with QPR, Spurs beat them and we beat Spurs comfortably.
Not that I rate the Spurs roster, I think it is crap, but they are playing better than us.
Are they though? Since that game they've had one win at home to Southampton. Probably about even on form at the moment. Both teams are short a centre half or two and a centre forward (probably studge when fit).

Why you didn't spend that Balotelli money on a CB is baffling.

I tried to get us back on point last page when I posed the question when does harry get the sack. That was a disastrous final minute. Will Pardew go first

We spent money on a centre back, more than we paid for Balotelli, only problem is he is dog shit as well.
We loaned out a young gun CB with potential.

Sturridge missing is hurting us more than we could imagine, and the fact he keeps breaking down is hurting us as well.
There comes a time where you ask if you should persist with his injuries or cash in on him?

QPR are repeating the same mistakes they made a few seasons ago; bringing in aging has-beens with "experience" on high wages who can no longer cut it at the top, and whose wealth means they are not quite as hungry for success (or in this case, survival) as they ought to be.

The players, dumb as they are, take after the manager, and his dumbness filters down to them. A dumb manager will not have the intelligence to bring in anything other than dumb players.

Rio Ferdinand is almost a carbon copy of harry... brain dead yet always ready to provide a quote, no matter how inane the views expressed

Well there you go, I didn't realise, perhaps it's a coaching thing. Set pieces have been your Achilles heel all season and they were disastrous again yesterday.

You'll need to consider it, or find an adequate back-up. He is clearly a player who needs to be managed.

Set pieces have ben our achillies heel for a number of seasons. For what ever reason, Skrtle goes into Rugby mode when a corner, free kick comes around and someone always finds themselves open.
Our marking is poor, and our awareness is poor.

Awareness comes from the fact that Mignolet does not command his area, not just the 6 yard box, the entire area.
He is arguably the best shot stopper in the league, but he has no positioning skills, doesn't speak to people and isn't confident about his calls.

In all honesty, selling Daniel Agger is just about the stupidest thing we did in the summer, along with upsetting Sakho.

CB wasn't our top priority after we bought Lovren, while we were quite desperately bare in the striking department. As we all know, Sturridge is made of glass, and relying on Lambert to be his trusted back-up is really not ideal. When we bought Balotelli, we expected things to run much more smoothly than they currently have. He's played like dog shit at times, but he's got so much talent that its hard to not give him time to adjust, and I think a lot of fans have made their mind up too quickly.

I'm starting to become convinced that it doesn't matter which CB we are going to bring into the team, because I think a lot of our problems come down to the way our defenders are coached. And not only our defenders, but our whole team in terms of defending as one organised unit when we don't have the ball. We struggle with such basics as dealing with slightly innocuous crosses because we don't have a defined defensive structure. As a result, defenders are badly positioned, enter into challenges that they shouldn't be involved with, and often just ball-watch.

I really hope that Rodgers is looking hard for a defensive coach, and it's something that I hope he did during the international break.

Anyone catch the United/West Brom game? Arguably one of the most entertaining games I have seen.

Berahino won't be at West Brom for too long, the kid really takes his chances well.

Daly Blind is turning out to be a very astute purchase from LVG, really appreciate the way he plays football, nice finish for his goal as well.

I'm not haha. Nah while I don't think we will win I think we will put up an ok fight. I'd like to go back to the diamond midfield though as Di Maria is a bit wasted on the wing.

No Costa, and now no Remy. So we'll probably have to rely on Drogba

And Schurrle

And Oscar

And Hazard

And Willian...

Rodgers is an almighty fool for thinking that the lone striker will work. Mario needs to stop choking every time an unmissable chance presents itself. Positives were the clean sheet, and the way our attack improved after Lambert and Coutinho came on. If we had Sturridge playing, we win easily. But reinforcements in Jan is a must.

I'd go with this.

With Rooney out and Rvp still seemingly not bothering to play this year I'd go with Herrera at the point with Mata and Falcao up front.
Theory being mata is not mobile enough for mid in any van gaal system but playing higher up means he can play with focus on attacking.

In mid put dimaria left and valencia right with blind holding.

In defence, whoever is fit...
