LvG will be fine, that united squad played like a team that couldn't stand its coach, with the pieces they have added and i assume will further add to now that the WC is basically over.

i still think Man Utd will do what Liverpool couldn't and that's win the the EPL from outside of Europe.

Oh and SANCHEZ!!!!!! YAY!!!!

I was really pissed off because just before Torres left, he was actually hitting his old form again. Then he was destroyed. Whether it was Chelsea's fault or Torres' fault...I don't know, probably both. But I think that he really thrived on being the 'main man' at Liverpool, it gave him a lot of confidence. The fans were really supportive of him, until he handed in the transfer request  It's been such a pity to see a talent like him just deteriorate. But I think the funniest part about that transfer was the Chelsea fans who made that blue replica of a Liverpool Torres banner, failing to realise that the design was the shankly gates
Torres was crocked when he was bought by Chelsea. Hamstring injuries robbed him of that yard of pace that made him so effective.

I actually think you'll sneak back into the Top 3, if you can keep Walcott and Ramsey on the park. Your squad is easily better than Liverpool's.

So was yours, last season, yet you still finished below us. It's not just quality of squad, it's how well they work together.

I'm completely unsure how we'll go. Could finish anywhere from top four to 7th, given Suarez is likely gone. Brought in a few players, be interested how Emre Can goes, ditto Llalana. Need to buy a fullback though, and hopefully someone of quality to replace Suarez.

Should be another exciting season.

And he better not answer back with that bullshit champions league argument, because Chelsea had a big enough squad to deal with it. People are acting like Liverpool had a champions league sized and quality squad last year, but we all know that's false. Liverpool do have a relatively weaker squad, but it's all about the team chemistry and the management. We've still got a whole transfer window to look for some new big-impact players.

I do think it was part of the reason you were able to cope so well last season, especially in the back half of the year. To dismiss it completely is just as crazy as saying it was the only reason.

You guys were all cheering about the extra games we were playing in the run-in. So you must have thought the lighter workload was helping in some way.

Agreed, despite the obvious faults in your defence you were able to stick solid to a good strikeforce who all clicked at the same time. They all benefitted from playing under Rodgers formation for a second season.

It will be interesting to see if the league remains tight or whether a team can kick away.

Not being in the Champions league had everything to do with our run. even with only 40 odd games the players clearly fatigued in the last month of the season. Because we basically had about 14 players going through the starting XI.

Although I also think Chelsea should've had the depth to do both, given the money they spent and the continued run of Champions League football that has allowed them to maintain a strong squad (not to mention the 20+ players on loan ffs).

So yeah, a heap of extra games and a squad missing our best player will require some good work from BR if we are too be similarly strong this season. It's also a big reason why man Utd could be very dangerous this year

We were cheering because we suspected that Jose was going to prioritise champions league over premier league.

I think the league will remain pretty tight again, assuming if Arsenal continue to strengthen. I can see Man Utd being pretty dangerous too. It's so important that BR spends the Suarez money correctly.

I know, but then we had a tiny squad...

Exactly. The starting XI was fine but having average players like Moses and Aspas on the bench is an indication of a small squad size.

Things will change this season though. Lambert and Can (and maybe Bony) are now the type of backup players and are significantly better than Aspas/Moses etc. Even Coutinho is likely to move to the bench with Lallana now there. Ditto Skrtel if we get Lovren.

Coutinho is talented, but he wasn't consistent enough last season to warrant a permanent place in the starting line up. And yeah, a couple of key injuries and we were f**ked.

?? You were in the CL semi final, as opposed to being massive outsiders for the EPL...

You were previously insisting that CL football made no difference to Chelsea's season nick

If that was the case, José would not have needed to prioritise anything
