AND ANOTHER THING...
Why does Manly have to wear their away jersey when there really is no need. These two clubs wore their primary (home) jerseys for 50 years (including the 1972 Grand Final). Even in NSW cup they don't feel the need to have the away jersey. There is no clash. Is it yet again another television thing. Do the networks demand it as it looks better on tv?? Even the computer game doesn't change the jerseys when these 2 teams meet.

Actually the Rooster faces Dexter (right), and is in the standard orientation for Charges. In heraldry, the dexter is from the bearer's point of view, not the viewers point of view. Image the logo painted on a shield that you're holding in front of you. What's on your right, is on your viewer's left, and the "left" and "right" is described from your point of view. It is normal for the charge to face to the Dexter.

This classic Roosters logo, for example: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e9/Eastern_Suburbs_Roosters_logo_1978.jpg

is described with the blazon: Argent, a bordure azure, with a close coq crowing gules.

I don't mention which way the c**k faces because that would be assumed it faces Dexter. (the words "Eastern Suburbs" in azure are not described here because they part of the emblazon.

Nah, I think it's just a f**king rooster.

The argument about clash uniforms gets regurgitated over and over, they're here to stay for good or bad. Both teams having dark coloured jerseys/light coloured shorts/dark coloured socks is one of the more justified reasons for one of the teams to wear a clash design, given that the rule exists.

Obviously, but my point is that it has never been a problem in the past (or present NSW Cup) so why is it different for NRL. I know it will not change things and that it is here to say, I was just making a point.

gzero - basically, the jerseys are both dark and have white shorts and relatively dark shorts. The general idea is to provide clear contrast where possible - hence the white away strip for Manly. Makes it easy for a general viewer to tell teams apart.

Why does the rooster face east? Maybe it's facing that way because it's representing the EASTERN suburbs and that's where the sun rises, and when the sun rises the c**k crows.

Dexter smexter, sometimes the simplest solution is the right one.

I like the badge, hate the patch (SURELY they could get a patch on there but make it look decent?!), and find the word 'SYDNEY' on the GF logo interesting. Why is it there? The NRL GF has always been in Sydney, and for the foreseeable future will continue to be in Sydney ... so why reference it?

You can't really see it on the image above, but the grey bit under the NRL Telstra Premiership logo has 'GRAND FINAL 2013' on one line, and 'SYDNEY' all by itself underneath. You can see the logo on the NRL's GF page on their website:

Sydney is famous worldwide and is our oldest and largest city so it adds a bit of prestige by association for non-NRL fans I guess.
Also more than likely NSW Events might be chipping in a bit of $$$

why do we need a special logo? Why not just get the typing on it like they do when somebody plays their 100th/150th/200th game?

Manly may have chosen to play in white...
Nope. They'd have been wearing the home jersey if Newcastle won. Highest team plays in home jersey, lowest team away if there's a perceived clash. Manly confirmed this before the Roosters/Knights game via Twitter.

Theyve photoshopped the Base of trophy
Know why?
Old NRL logo - probably for consistency.

It's made from bronze: it will be hollow.

I remember the first year of that trophy (1998). The thing was so heavy the players almost dropped it when they tried to put it over their heads. I has been lightened, I think, but it isn't hollow. Given that they have changed the base before I wonder if they have done so again for this year.
