2014 NRL Draw

Agree.

Broncos v Dogs will be a great game to kick off the season in Bris.

No chance in hell they will get 40K+. Last year the same fixture got 27K.

I've not heard one valid reason to change a successful event, that was building tradition, other than shits and giggles.

The Reds and the Roar have Suncorp booked for the opening weekend mate

Meaningless as they are going to play it as a Bronco's home game anyway, Im certain that, just like last year they will play it on the Thursday night.

How is it meaningless? The Roosters/Rabbitohs is on the Thursday, and I can't see Suncorp saying "YEAH OKAY CHOP UP OUR SURFACE" when there are two matches already scheduled the following nights.

You'll find it'll be moved to ANZ if it's indeed a round one match. Which is still a chance of not being so - Raelene Castle was quoted as saying she thought discussions were happening about a Sydney club home game to open the season.

Pretty outstandingly clear with this poorly used statistic that you're upset because a tradition involving your team is being ignored.

I'd love to know what's achieved by comparing a Round 26 match at the end of what was Brisbane's arguably worst season since inception, to a Round 1 match where there'll be significant interest in new signings and a recent Dally M winner facing his old club after an explosive defection.

If you think there's no chance in hell a Broncos first home game against a club like Canterbury, given the circumstances, could crack 40k, you're either delusional or too blinded by bias toward your own club or state.

NRL Telstra Premiership

Suncorp Stadium just said this on facebook:

"Just clarifying incorrect media reports from Sydney re the Broncos round 1 game in 2014. This game was never planned to be held at Suncorp Stadium. The Broncos had specifically requested they play their first home game in round 2. The Stadium therefore held this date to meet their requirements. The Broncos, the Reds and the NRL were all comfortable with this arrangement which was put in place some months ago."

If you believe that than good on you mate. I personally think your dreaming.

Lineball, I can see your reasoning but for me I don't think it is an even comp unless teams get Home & Away games against all teams....ATM that would be 30 games.

If in a future expanded comp we have 17 games and play the other teams once, some teams could get an advantage by maybe playing stronger teams at Home and they might get Away games against weaker teams thus improving their chances of more wins. Also have some teams with 9 Home & 8 Away and visa versa.

We can't have it all because I also think that SOO & Tests should be stand alone so no team is forced to have players sit out pre-origin games. This also advantages some teams depending on who they play before Origin and how many players are out of the game...not good for supporters either.

Not playing any team twice before playing other teams once

As a general thing I'd like to see a spread of teams getting channel 9 games and MNF. Warriors and Canberra are never on 9 and Manly seem to be dumped in to MNF a lot. Change that. I think MNF should have a maximum amount of times a team can be given that slot.

Both of these 100%

Being the forum nazi - isn't the question being posed by this thread what's being discussed in THIS thread?

This thread is better because you only feature once.

Every team to play each other before rematches. Canberra to play less on Saturday nights in the middle of winter. More bronco games on Friday night.

Because you're outstandingly biased toward your own club.

The Broncos could be playing Penrith and I still think they'd push 40k - EVERY club has a higher crowd in Round 1 than they normally would ("on the road" games like us v Cowboys last year being the exception to the rule).

haha someone pretending to be a stadium

ffs
Uh no, someone pretending to be the NRL Telstra Premiership.

The Suncorp Stadium account is legit.

Looks like a mod agreed with me, mergetown

:

Like how last year in Round 1 they only drew 30k against Manly in Rd1, yet in preceding years had crowds as big as 48k when the Cowboys were involved.

Keep dreaming mate, if it makes you feel better.

Did that in 2008 and only got 30k
