Sometime you watch sportsman and they are head and shoulders above the rest. Hayne has been like that of late.

If anyone saw Garry Ablett yesterday, it was the same thing.

Yeah Gronk, when he called the ball blind side and scored against set defenders, it was almost as if both Hayne and the defenders knew he'd score, and it was useless to resist.

Lyon never looked dominant at Origin level.
Hoppa looked the part in his first game.

Different stories really! Hoppa would be one of the best in the comp under the high ball and is strong from dummy half and defensively. I think he would go well if picked.

I'm not saying he couldn't go well.
I just don't want to screw him and the NSW team up by picking him if he's underdone.

If he does get picked, I certainly won't lose any sleep over it. I'll be cheering him on.

Stuart wrote: “When I took over Origin coaching the second time around in 2011, that (bad) attitude was back in camp. That’s why I didn’t pick Jarryd Hayne in that first game in 2011.”

Then why did you pick him in the second game, Ricky?

And why did you say to everyone that he wasn't picked because you see him "more as a five-eighth"?

i thought they want specialists in all positions and Dugan was the style of fullback ricky wants in his side.

i thought Stuart was trying to put hayne on a leash instead of trying to work with him. There were plenty of things said about selections before and after they were made that seemed contradictory or made no logical sense.

i think we can all agree that RS is a f*ckwit.
I also think Mr Hayne worked out pretty quickly what sort of a person and coach The Muppet was and remains. Haynes perceived attitude possibly grew from Spags signing of "Parramattas best purchase since Jack Gibson."

Look, Stewart and Dugan are good players and would go well in Origin. However, in order to beat arguably the best Origin squad in history you need to have the best players in their best positions.

1. Hayne

End of story.

To put him in the centres or on the wing, or at 5/8 just means NSW are admitting that we don't have anyone good enough in those positions.

The real question is, can the half and 5/8 picked get enough quality ball to Hayne and the two centres?

But this has been the story since at least 2010.

The selectors just haven't opened the book yet - SURELY this year they've started reading????

You make a good point about the halves.

the team simply MUST revolve around Hayne getting the ball when he wants, and where he wants it. So Pearce probably shouldn't be picked - he simply holds the ball too long, and plays to the death too often with the ball in hand. It's been highly ineffective in Origin, and will prove to be again - but even worse, it means Hayne only gets the ball if he runs off Pearce, rather than being given early ball to work with.

J Reynolds MUST be the right half.
I'd be ok with Maloney on the left, I think Maloney would work well around Hayne and Tony Williams on that edge as the support runner should they create half a gap.

In what way?

Lazy and disinterested too often. And no bullshit about how he just "looks" disinterested - sometimes he just walked out and didn't put himelf into the game.

Sooky quite regularly. Taking dives, whinging to the refs, stuff like that.

Seems to be all gone this year. He seems focused all the time, aggressive with the refs instead of sooky, not pretending to be hurt or staying down and I haven't seen a game this year where he wasn't pushing his involvement (and this is with a better spine around him, too, which could be an excuse to stand off).

2014 seems like a year where all that childishness is behind him.
