Newcastle are gone, especially with confirmation Mullen will miss 3-4 months

Bulldogs IMO no longer have X-factor without Barba. They have a few solid players buts no game-breakers.

Spoon will be battled out between Dragons and Raiders

Teams that should be guaranteed in the top 8, if not top 4:

1. Roosters
2. Cowboys
3. Souths

Teams that are obviously better than us:

4. Melbourne
5. Warriors
6. Canterbury
7. Manly

Teams that I think are potentially on par with us:

8. Penrith
9. Wests
10. Parramatta
11. Newcastle
12. Cronulla (actually much better on paper, but predicting a very disrupted season for the Sharks)

And teams that I think are worse than us and should fill the bottom four places:


13. Titans
14. Canberra
15. Broncos
16. Dragons (looking woeful, coach sacking and spoon specials)

I agree with your first 2 categories, but you could just about lump the remaining 9 teams all together IMO.

Its amazing to think that the Broncs are looking so poor (after a poor 2013) given the representative forward pack they have.

i dont get the early hype around the cowboys tbh. dont see them finishing higher than 6th or 7th. Manly will still be top 4 with DCE running the show.

I think I've predicted us to finish 12th for the last 3 years now, so as a point of difference I'm going to pick us to finish 11th this year.

Why when Ricky came people thought we could finish in top 10 with a much worse squad than this year?
I did not like sticky dicky, but BA has a much better team so why are our expectations so low? Just saying....

I mean ricky had no Peats,Norman,Hoppa plus Tonga Hayne and Tanginoa out for best part of the year. Six very good players yet lower expectations.Just seems odd to me

Well, I guess we have an extra year of evidence regarding the quality of the existing players.....however, I think I predicted about 10th-12th last year, and this year 8th-10th.....so I think we will go better.

Well, people made predictions before the injuries (at least Hayne/ Tanginoa). If you tell me that they'll be out for most of the season I'll revise my prediction down right now.

Definitely a chance for top 8.

2013 was an aberration in that most teams finished roughly where they finished in 2012. Most years the competition is a lottery from one year to the next.
