2014 predictions

Definitely a chance for top 8.

2013 was an aberration in that most teams finished roughly where they finished in 2012. Most years the competition is a lottery from one year to the next.

We need a few young players to have 'break out' years if we're any hope and no injuries.

I'd say we're likely bottom four finishers. Optimistically (while still being realistic), maybe 10-12. Realistically no chance for the 8.

Absolutely. Plus a few other members of the Australian team (besides just Hayne) to miss half a season with injury. Imagine the Storm if Cam Smith only played 12 games. Or Souths with Inglis in and out hurt all year.

And unlucky to have had our planning ruined by seven coaching changes since 2006.

It's easy for people to sit here and focus on what's wrong with our team (and there's plenty of food for thought admittedly)....but don't forget that there's a fair chance that a few of the teams with notionally better rosters than us will run into a) injuries to key players b) SofO call ups (which we might not have so many of) c) all the other random shit that happens during a season. People are very quick to apparently know everything. We don't appear to be near to being a top 4 or even 6 team, but I don't find it incomprehensible that we'll threaten the bottom end of the top 8. I think it is quite conceivable that positions 7-12 will be separated by less than 4 points.

My question to every one on here.
Why when Ricky came people thought we could finish in top 10 with a much worse squad than this year?
I did not like sticky dicky, but BA has a much better team so why are our expectations so low? Just saying....

To answer your first question... because even though I agree we had a worse team I thought Stuart would be able to motivate the players to perform better. Wishful thinking, and I was wrong.

In regards to expectations being low for this year, after back to back wooden spoons, and a near miss the previous year, it's hard to have anything but low expectations. I like BA so far, but it's about time actions did the talking rather than words.
