I know its only QCup but Dane spent a fair bit of time at FB for the Dolphins in 2012. He was a star that year for them

I think he is the best man for the job

If he does re-sign it's a huge compliment to stone, the club and players to keep a guy like gagai. Gagai has every reason to go back to Wayne and it says a lot about us if he doesn't.

Hopefully this is the beginning of players actually wanting to come and play for newcastle and stay in newcastle. We haven't had that kind of lure since Andrew johns was here.

Not sure how much I'd read into it at the moment. The Courier Mail ran a story a couple of days ago about how the Broncos may miss out on signing Gagai because they have too many "stars" like Reed and Maranta already on the books and Gagai might not get a starting spot there (LOL).

IMO if Gagai re-signs Sione gets McManus' wing spot next year with plans to move BJ into the back row later down the track with Sione into the centres. I fear Sione will be put at fullback though. I'd prefer Gagai there if they're the only fullback options.

Huh.. There you go, Well It's great news if we do re-sign him, he is quality no doubt and what a great feeling to out score Bennett and the Broncos!!

Just continues that struggle with Sione. Where to put him. Center is is best position, I haven't seen enough of Gags at fullback to climb on that train and Mamo may be too small for it. Either way a good position for Knights to be in and congrats to club if he does re-sign.

Mamo isn't too small for fullback.

I'm still not convinced Mamo is going to be the fullback failure everyone is saying he'll be. I've watched a few of his NSW Cup games this year and he certainly hasn't been terrible. Obviously he still has a lot to work on but fullback isn't just something you can pick up right away evidenced by Sione.

Well I said "may be" I'm not knocking him out thats for sure! I am definitely one of his fans and would love to see him make grade here!! I think he may get a better shot on the Wing in 1st grade for a while, and I can really only see it being McManus being moved on out of our current back line.

If we were to re-sign Gagai and Mamo (I do think we'll lose one of them though) and Mamo started to get really comfortable at fullback in NSW Cup by the end of the year I'd like to see a backline of something like this for 2016:

1. Mamo
2. Sione
3. Gagai
4. BJ
5. Uate

I do think BJ will end up in the backrow down the track anyway. He's just so big and keeps growing. I wouldn't want to see him moved any time soon though given he's a strike weapon for us out there so if it were up to me Sione would stay on the wing developing until the time was right to move him into the centres. He's still only 18. Wouldn't hurt to give him a year or two on the wing.

If Gagai stays though I think Stone will go with Sione at fullback and keep McManus in the side. He loves him. I do too but at
the same time I think there comes a point when you need to get permanent spots for your young blokes (in this case Sione).

If Mamo doesn't work out or doesn't re-sign but Gagai does I think he'd be a better option at fullback than Sione who just doesn't look comfortable there.

McManus is still good enough to hold down a place but the amount of talent in our backline is going to make it very tough and his form is average at best. Add the fact BJ has said he wants to stay for the foreseeable future it is not a hard equation to make who will be sent packing.

Took the words out of my mouth. If Mcmanus kills it then I'd be very tempted to put Gagai at fullback and Sione at centre. We r in a very good poition when iit comes to our backs. Now it's time to sign a couple of props.

I can't see how Gagai re-signing can be bad for us in anyway. I doubt he'll be on mega bucks and keeping him here means other clubs won't be able to have him.

I think making sure Kidley moves on is very important. Also, if Scott is gonna move, he better decide quickly and let the club know so we can use those bucks on improving the squad. Same with Jeremy Smith.

As much as I like JMullen and TRoberts, I don't think they have it in them to be superstars anymore. They are stock standard halves and I think we could really use the money to get a quality playmaker who'll guide the team around. I used to think JMullen could become the half we need but I just don't see it happening anymore. If we have a good half inside him, he could still be a wonderful player to have at the club but having both JMullen and TRoberts in the halves, isn't helping the team.

Cooper Cronk is off contract in 2016 LOL... Or isn't he? Is Peter Wallace?

There seem to be some big names coming off contract in 2016. I wish we could tie some up quickly!

Hodkinson is off contract and I think him and Mullen would work well together

Ah yeah, he'd be amazing. Great goal kicker as well.

1. Gagai
2. Uate
3. Mata'utia
4. Leilua
5. McManus
6. Mullen
7. Hodkinson

8. Snowden
9. Cyldesdale
10. Sims
11. Whighton
12. Rochow
13. Sims

14. Roberts
15. Vai Vai
16. Tapaine
17. Stockwell

Looks pretty good and we'd still have plenty in the bank. We could probably sign another class player.

Wighton? Wtf Yosh lol

Hodkinson would be a good option. He's pretty young though so whether the club would actually go after him would depend a lot on the plans for Lamb and Cogger.

Here is hoping Tyrone proves us all wrong. Hodkinson will command a huge price tag due to the lack of halves on the market. There is every chance Bird will play in the 6 and Mullo in the 7 next season if Greg does indeed sign on as is rumoured. The hold up is the court case from what I am hearing. And no Bird coming here does not depend on Beau leaving. Off topic a little, I have to give Ricky Stuart a bit of credit for his recruitment cos he has signed Aiden Sezer and a kid from England I rate very highly named Elliott Whitehead. whitehead played junior footy with the Burgess boys at Bradford. They smacked everyone in their junior days by plenty. Stone should look more to the ESL cos there is plenty of talent there. Whitehead would have been an ideal start. I have every belief he will be the next big thing from England here. He has a very high try per game strike rate. I think he has scored over 60 tries in around 150 games.

I really don't think we're going to sign Bird. The club is trying to get the supporters back onside and signing someone like Bird would be a weird way of going about that.

Yeah im skeptical about Bird too and it wouldnt disappoint me if he doesnt come to the Knights.

I think he'll end up back at Cronulla
