I pity people who don't follow the NRL anymore/or passion diminished because they think it is rigged. Try being an EPL fan outside 5 clubs who seem to win everything over the last few decades, doesn't diminish those fans passion, or an AFL where the salary cap concessions deem the frontier clubs MUST win a comp at all costs/or the Swans who must remain competitive season in/season out for they are only 1 or 2 bad seasons away from the old days in a fickle Sydney market. The leg Ups don't seem to diminish their deluded fans passion. What a load of crock. What a season this is for the NRL when no clear team is evident for the premiership and those teams deemed to get the spoon or are past it, are having brilliant seasons.

For the TRUE fan, a comp like this would be a dream in 2015.

Really couldn't expect much better than that given the weather and the fact that Origin players are out.

Yep, a combined 1 player for both teams.

Can't blame origin players being out for this one.

Weather was f**ked all day though.

GWS is going to outdraw Tigers/Cowboys tomorrow night unfortunately. Then the media will spin it as a victory for GWS and it's 'taking over' angle that is always used against rugby league decade after decade. No other code has the media hysteria that rugby league has in putting down it's code constantly on a regular basis while talking up the other codes.

No other code has such a negative media ever in world sport. Impartial, constructive professional media would be nice for once.

Two biggest fanbases in nrl and we couldn't expect better? Fair enough eels are a basketcase. Classic case where if both sets of members had got in for free it would at least not risk being embarrassed by some plastic afl club. Prepare yourself for a few weeks of hand wringing at sht crowds as we face the annual origin dilution of interest.

GWS would outdraw the Pope in Rome right now. I was at the pub earlier and got sick of everyone talking about them. There's no shame in being less popular than what's probably the most popular team in the country right now.

Tbf I'm pretty sure if storm were drawing more than Essendon and a Perth team was outdrawing Eagles or a Adelaide NRL club was outdrawing the crows then the afl media might have something to say!

It was pouring down rain mate! 11K is pretty impressive considering the conditions! Plus it is at ANZ, worst stadium ever to get to on a Friday night!

GWS probably got more than that across the road for their training session tonight. Rain don't touch no Giants.

Can't remember the last time they got less than 10k. Give it two months and we'll all be wondering about the last time they got less than 20k. The NRL might have to give up the fight against the Giants, somw juggernauts just can't be stopped.

Juggernauts LMAO....they got a grand total of under 12K last time and that was a big drawing side they were playing! They are not taking over, never will. They will co-exist, but that is it.

There's been plenty of reports of broken turnstiles at Giants games, so that 12k was closer to 18k, and any NRL team would be happy with that against an our-of-state team. The Giants are just getting started, if they get close to the flag this year they'll need to add an extra stand to the Olympic Stadium to get all the fans in next season. Maybe they won't take over, but NRL teams are already fighting over the scraps the Giants leave lying around.

The runaway popularity of the Giants will see at least 3 NRL clubs fold.

They are likely to have crowds averaging in the 30 thousand range by the end of this month.

Rothfield is probably writing the article as we speak.

The predictable clown thought GWS were a waste of space a year or so ago, but you just knew he would use them against RL as soon as they started winning. And they were always going to start winning considering the huge concessions they are afforded.
