I don't think every club should. But it is a nice idea.

I agree. If we are pulling tens of thousands to every home game there is no need to shift fixtures. I can understand why teams that struggle to get a decent crowd to every game would move one though. :sarcasm: :D

It would get more than 8k if the right teams went.

Take a Cowboys or Broncos game to Cairns and it will do better. Although you would be giving them a home game in terms of support.

And to re-re-re-share a great memory at Barlow Park, here's what the Cowbows v Storm got for a pre-season game in 2005:

The TV based fans will always be transient.. NRL needs to focus on the hard core fans for attendance growth...

Basically every NRL team has at a minimum 8-9K absoluteley rusted on hard core fans who will go when ever where ever in almost any conditions... + 6-7k transients who come and go every week,,,

The trick is to work out exactly who these 9k are, and what makes them tick, and how to turn that 9k into 15k (while keeping the transient fans )

If i was a CEO i would want to know every little thing i could about these guys, how old, how much do they earn, where do they live, married, single, kids, gay, straight, catholic, etc...

Even something as simple as giving a cash bonus ($50) to members who sign up another member would be a very simple strategy..

Or a bonus if your members card got scanned at all 12 home games in a year .. not exactly rocket science

You've got your head screwed on correctly. If only the marketing/advertising team of most NRL Clubs took even just that idea highlighted in bold on board, they'd go a hell of a long way in their pursuit towards getting more ppl to games. A bit hard to market games when you don't know the demographics that you are dealing with in the first place. Another idea regarding that bold part, perhaps clubs in the opening round at games could hand out short questionnaires (with paper and pencil) to fill out, and to be collected or handed in at the game and then the marketing/advertising team have something to work with..

Based on my understanding. The Tigers are playing the Dragons at ANZ in round 10 aren't they ? if they are than NRL + both clubs should do as much possible in the next fortnight in promoting, special deals for the game etc to push the attendance to 25-30k because if the weather is good it should get 30k. Dragons are in form and so are the Tigers

They don't play each other again until round 26 so Tigers will fall to shit then atleast

I can understand taking games to regional areas and clubs getting coin to do it, but it makes the game look amatuer, they are perfect for trial games.

Never going to improve crowd avg with games played in Albury, Bathurst & cairns.

So doesn't matter it spreads the games around? The NRL club makes a profit so who cares about the crowd

I don't know why the Cowboys do not take at least 1 home game to Cairns EVERY year.

Would be fairer to take 1 Home Game away from Townsville, and play it in Cairns and Mackay on alternate years. The years Cairns misses out on the Cowboys, they can have Souths come and play..

Thats very poor considering the last 2 years any punters in NQ know why that happened? For it to half in 2 years is pretty bad

Spoke to my family who are all mad League fans and are involved with local footy.

They basically told me that $75 for a grandstand seat (and I use the word grandstand very liberally) was too much of a deterrent.
