Not sure about all the death riding...

it was 3k off a sell out, and it was on a friday, Saturday is obviously better for travelling fans

Its hard to believe that they wrote a negative story over the fact that they had sold 10,000 tickets by last Saturday..

I think Titans would love to have 10k presales, a week out from a game...

At least the game feels real to the players,, from one side anyway,

Was very disrespectful by NRL to abandon it last year...

why?

looked pretty damn full out there, a few empty seats in sections

it was 4K from capacity and the non-tv areas looked a bit empty.. but in saying that I'm hoping it wasn't a lie, a good crowd on the coast is fantastic and I hope this flows on well to both the Titans home games and the test match

We divide by national lines, why not race, culture or religion? no different to nationality in essence.

I'm with you, bro. These days I find it hard to watch sporting events that aren't divided along racial lines.

It's not divided though it's a celebration. People seem to keep insisting that the score has to have meaning and you have to"hate" one side to get into it.

The idea for the game has been and always will be about indigenous celebration. Nothing wrong with that except that will probably mean the game will have a limited life span.

Last nights game was the fifth in the series. The indigenous team leads the series 3-2, winning the last two games. Not saying the NRL All Stars don't want to win, but we know which team wants to win more. Because of this I expect them to dominate the series forever how long it may last.

While crowds attending games should never be counted by race numbers it would be interesting to know the breakdown between indigenous and non-indigenous there last night. I got the impression indigenous support at the game was much higher.

The game says a lot (of good things) about Australia. It would be impossible to stage in the US without a race riot.

Five straight 20k crowd out of season suggests its going gang busters. Can you explain why it's got a limited lifespan?

Do people attend Harlem Globetrotters games expecting the Generals to win? The winner isn't relevant in this game.

Why would the makeup of the crowd matter? Would you consider a crowd of 25k ethnically Chinese a problem for example?

yeah i agree.

this game definitely proved me wrong. ratings were Nine - 453k and GEM - 31k. Anyone know how that compares to previous years?

happy to keep it along with 9s in the preseason. just take out 1 trial, 2-4 regular season games to allow for stand alone origin and that stupid rep weekend in week 7 or whatever.

To think one pre-season crowd will be greater than anything that Penrith, Cronulla, and Canberra will draw during the entire regular season is a indictment on the NRL and the clubs if anything. Yesterday crowd will outdraw 85% of regular NRL crowds now that's wrong.

Limited as in maybe 10 years. I think most people are looking for a serious contest. But as I said it's about indigenous celebration, so that team I believe is more motivated to win. It's like the NRL All-Stars team is just there to make up a game.

A big difference between a Harlem Globetrotters game and a league game like last nights. But if the NRL wants to treat it that way, that's fine. If so, it might be a good idea to move ithe game around to different locations. Why not play the game in country areas. Crowds should not be important if they want to treat it as an exhibition and cultural game.

As for the make up of the crowd. It would be interesting to know how many of the crowd were indigenous. It may show they place more importance on the game and mean more to them then other Australian.

I'd love to see it played in the pilbara and rl dominant in the aboriginal communities up there. Get gina to build a temp stadium in port headland for it, she can afford it. Fortesque is another group the nrl should be banging on the door of. He already does heaps of work with northern WA communities and would be a great partner for the NRL.
