More than 100,000 Junior Rugby League participants, including players, officials and volunteers will be able to see three NRL blockbusters for free as part of a special deal for the Easter Weekend.

Play NRL Rewards members can watch the Good Friday match between the Bulldogs and the Rabbitohs, as well as the Easter Monday clash between Parramatta and Wests Tigers, alongside a match of their choice this weekend.

The deal can be accessed via the new online system which has been introduced for all Junior Rugby League participants this year.

Doing my comparison of this year's crowds to the equivalent games over the last 5 years.

Round 5 (113k) was 12k down on average (125k). We are now down 38k in total. All other years I've investigated (back to 2009) have been positive at this stage.

In Round 5, there was only 1 positive game, Knights vs Panthers, which was +4k. This was this fixture's biggest crowd since 2009.

Wests Tigers vs Bulldogs broke even. The rest were all negative.

- Cowboys vs Storm -5k
- Eels vs Rabbitohs -3k
- Dragons vs Sea Eagles -3k
- Warriors vs Broncos -3k (lowest crowd for this fixture since 2008)
- Sharks vs Titans -1k
- Roosters vs Raiders -1k

Next week's par crowd total is 148k. Will the Easter weekend give us the same kick as in previous years?

- Bulldogs vs Rabbitohs 26k
- Titans vs Broncos 22k
- Sea Eagles vs Raiders 10k
- Knights vs Dragons 23k
- Roosters vs Sharks 10k
- Eels vs Wests Tigers 24k
- Storm vs Warriors 24k
- Panthers vs Cowboys 9k

You're "forced" into breaking the law?

f**king LOL.

So the same as the Stadium charging me $8 for something that should be $5.50 at most, and that is being generous. Mif strength should be charged accordingly. You expect people to NOT find ways around it?

No, I expect you not to be a pompous f**kwit.

You keep insisting you know your limits, but your relentless pursuit of this issue suggests otherwise.

It is a massive issue. You have to realise we want to grow the game. People want an 'experience'. If that means a full strength beer, they should be able to get it. You want your stable 12-15,000 crowd fine, but I would think the NRL would want that to be 25,000 to 30,000. People want the whole package, in other words less awful refs, and definitely better food and drink. Reality is, we are in Australia, we like a drink. You may not drink but more Australians do when they go to an event.

38K isn't too bad. considering the cricket world Cup clashed with a few games and we haven't had the blockbusters yet

Blockbusters shouldn't be an issue with my comparison, because I am comparing like with like. Brisbane vs Melbourne is compared with Brisbane vs Melbourne. Titans vs Sharks is compared with Titans vs Sharks.

I like a beer at the footy and defintiely prefer full strength.

Won't stop me from going though.

To suggest beer prices and/or strength is a key reason for poor attendances is ludicrous.

Which was forced- stop serving mid strength rubbish and I'm more than happy to pay $7-8 for a good beer. I wouldn't be forced into getting booze into the arena. Pretty easy though, there are gaps in the stadium, go with your mate, pass the bottle through. There was 8 of us though, I actually only had 2 drinks and unlike the others I didn't drink during the game. See...I know restraint. So again why am I being punished because some people are fruit cakes and can't control their booze. Stop serving them, it really isn't hard.

Suncorp has proper bundy out of the bottle. None of this pre mix rubbish. You had no need to smuggle in spirits.

Wish I was attending it at Suncorp, and that is fine, I'm happy to pay for it. What I'm not thrilled about is paying full strength prices for mid strength.

Drink prices are outrageous at Suncorp. That said, if I have one before the game and one at half time I am happy. I am there for the footy, not to get drunk and run back and forward to the bar/loo. If I want full strength beer and footy, I go to Kougarai or Langlands (and do so a couple of times a year). Can't see the problem.

I agree with above posts saying people want an experience. In 2015, there should be big screens (good work Roosters), wifi, short queues, choices, entertainment, music and footy. Light. Colour. Sound. I think the Broncos do this fairly well (8/10). (In fact, if they did nothing other than the t*rr*r*sm inspired bus explosion video I would be happy.) From going to the Titans last year (and hopefully again this year) they give it a decent bash, too (6-7/10).

Question for people down south, what is the non-footy entertainment like on Gameday (Sydney clubs, Canberra, Melbourne)?

My point is the blockbusters will move the crowd closer to the 38k we are down. Broncos, Newcastle seem stronger so will get some decent crowds over the next month or so

I know people who don't go to games because of this. Your average battler at their local can watch the game for free with $5 glass schooners.

Meanwhile, make the effort to go and support your club at ANZ and you get treated like a child with $8 plastic lights.

I'm not advocating glass at the footy but I don't see why we can't have full strength beer.

Went to the wildcats basketball at the new perth arena this year. Price was the same but the whole game day package was so far ahead of anything I've been to at an nrl game it isn't funny.

Re the drinks they had 4 different full strength beers to choose from plus two full ciders. Maybe RL fans just can't be trusted with full strength beer lol.
