Aren't attendances up overall this year?

Zero chance of it holding up. The remaining fixture is weak and its now back to Thursday and Monday every week. Even allowing for perfect weather every week I predict the average will end up 14,800

Your right the NRL is doing it all so well they shouldn't be looking at other leagues which have managed to get TV deals worth billions very year whilst still packing out stadiums. Why would that be of any interest to the NRL.
Either way 13k last night when we have 34k members and haven't played on a weekend in the city since March is awful.

Of course they need to look at other leagues but you are comparing NRL to the most popular sport by far in a land mass probably less than the size of most Australian states with 75 or 80million people crammed in.

My main point was 13k is nothing to be proud of.

While you are right in that comparisons between sports leagues are difficult due to vastly different demographics and georgraphy. But we definitely can compare the attitude of east coast Australians with places like the UK or the rest of Australia for that matter. In the places were rugby league is historically strong for one reason or antoher people just don't seem to stick as well to their team nor showup rain hail or shine compared to say Melbourne, Adelaide or many European city teams. When you look at the second divisions for football in England and Germany in particular they average around 20k year to year with much much less coverage and money than the top leagues. The key is its driven by local people wearing their heart on their sleeve and supporting their team by showing up or buying season tickets.

The product is quite good at the moment on the field so it seems to be a combination of apathy, season structure, off field crap, poor match placement and scheduling.

We have lots of supporter, interstate and 3 game members. As a club it's 32,700 and odd members by the way,

It was a fair crowd. Not a bad result.

Perth fans lost their will to go??? Because they don't have a team? Even though the nrl is bringing an origin to Perth in 2019... The only reason they are doing this is to get a Perth team in there in 2023... Why else would they take one there? Am I wrong? Please tell me why cause I generally want to know what other reason there is to take one there.

I'm saying it as it is whether you like it or not.

So 2k people more for a team that's had a lot of recent success, in a city with 15 times the population makes a crowd to be proud of?
Whereas a team in such a shit state I'm amazed they get 10 people turning up never mind over 10k is poor.
That's how it is eh?

Closer to 2,500 mark actually than 2,000.

Daytime matches should get bigger crowds as well.

They are only a one town team and there isn't as much to do up there. They should have got a bit more there than that.

Remember we have bandwagon supporters like all clubs do and they are falling off the wagon.

Get ready for next Monday when we play Manly on a Monday Night which is hard for most Souths members I know who can't make it due to work. Maybe about 9k there I'd say v Manly.

It was a Saturday night not Monday 13,000 was awful no idea why a passionate fan like yourself is so happy to defend those with no passion.

Because Barnett gave them $5million! The NRL isnt taking Origin here, WA has bought it. Is it part of a master plan for a club here following it? Nothing I have seen of the NRL in the last 5 years would suggest they have any sort of plan so I doubt it.

And its not we arent going to the games this year in numbers because we dont have a club, more that there is absolutely no will being shown by the NRL to get the place ready for a club, so whats the point? As Todd said "Perth's not a priority", when it is we will make the NRL a priority again.

Yeah lets not assume the NRL has a plan, WA agreed to pay $5M ,the end...

Frigging madagasgar if they payed $5M would get it..

Strategic planning manager, Shane Richardson, lasted 9 months, and wasn't replaced., there is no plan...

Play the games week to week, and hope not for not too many scandals,,, that is the plan
