NSW- A population of more than double that struggles to fill a stadium of less than double.

Timmah, fire selling tickets at up to 200 bucks off the year after winning when you only had one game is evidence to suggest lack of true interest.

It's also hilarious you went back 16 years because there's no real evidence lately that NSW isn't interested despite Queensland's dominance.

Down through the ages, still more empty seats:

21 May 2008 Game 1
ANZ Stadium, Sydney
Attendance: 67,620

2010 Game 1
ANZ Stadium, Sydney
Attendance: 68,753

2010 Game 3
ANZ Stadium, Sydney
Attendance: 61,259

"Win lose or draw"

So, I repeat (as no one has had the balls to estimate) - what are the predictions for Game 3 if NSW are down 2-zip?

NSW pop - 7.5 Mill
QLD pop - 4.5 mil

not more than double

I think history shows that when QLD cops periods of losing they have to change the rules / concepts behind the interstate game to make qld more competitive to bring the interest back.

NSW with superior passion show up win, loss or draw.

SOO has always been and still is about making Qld relevant.

Sorry but apart from Inglis which was a f**k up, who has played when they aren't eligible to play for a state. The eligibility rules are pretty clear cut if you bother to look at them instead of saying shit that's just not correct

With exception of one of the biggest names in the game....

Besides SEQ = 3.4 million
Metropolitan NSW (Includes Newcastle and the Illawarra) = 5.6million.

That's probably a fairer way to judge than arbitrary statistical divisions.

80,122 still attended. Clear 28k more than Brisbane. Simples.

Only a Queenslander would find a way to paint crowds of 60k+ attending rugby league matches as a negative

What an absolute joke, you have gone back 6-8 years to find a crap attendance figure which is still better than what brisbane would get

Avoiding the question still.

Wait

The facts don't suit your point of view so you just move them to what you want?

At it's base level you're trying to claim Queensland has more interest in rugby league. It's a ridiculous argument.

Bit dreary in the Gong this morning but clearing up. Will be a cool night down there on the beach but hopefully no need to pull out the ole weather excuse.

Cowboys have played 14 games in Wollongong for an average of 9963.

Gong crowds are never good, Cowboys in particular are not a good draw card.

Any bump you could expect from them being defending premiers is cancelled out by origin stars missing from both teams.

The crowd will be in the 8500 - 10500 range. I've just saved you guys all that energy from getting worked out about it being a shit crowd...it will be shit...suspense over. Moving along.
