If they're discounting Platinum tickets again to $50 I'll go, otherwise not at those prices. I see you're still quite active here SLR...
Broncos doing very well this year mate...
I've only managed to go to 2 games in total this year because of work commitments...

You flying down again? Got you Game 2 tix?

I settled for section 101-2 (gold) for the Bronze price. Keep waiting for a firesale. Game two - finally got invited to a work corporate, took the bastards long enough!

Is Canberra in NSW?

I don't care about origin all that much but think RD might actually be right. Origin would be dead and gone as a concept if QLD had lost 9/10. No doubt that the old school, take down sydney mentality of the 80s was very cool but today it's just expectation dressed up as passion.

QLD origin crowds are the most overrated myth in world sport. Blatchy's mob are just as bad but no-one rates em enough for them to be overrated.

You sir, have lost the plot.

They're decent seats, especially at Bronze prices. What seats do you get for game 2?

PAX for tomorrow nights game is looking good, I know a lot of people going just to see how our future forward pack goes.

Have you got a pax figure? The map looks pretty bad. Worse than dragons crowd at this stage, I think we will get 25-27k.

Last dead rubber at ANZ still got 62,000
ANZs average for origin is near 76,000

It'll be 80,000 for next week

Wonder how the Qlders would be going if they'd lost 9 of the last 10 series
I spose we'll find out in 2026

Suncorp would have tumbleweeds going thru it if qlderp had been serving up shit like nsw have for 90% of the past decade. Makes it even funnier when they dribble on so much about 'passion'

I think history shows that when QLD cops periods of losing they have to change the rules / concepts behind the interstate game to make qld more competitive to bring the interest back.

NSW with superior passion show up win, loss or draw.

As a neutral origin is great for raising the games profile, it is by far the best coverage of the year NRL gets in WA for example, but it is ultimately just a showcase event, much prefer internationals myself that feel like they mean more to the whole countries involved.
Origin is the best and worse of the game really, it is massive for profile and cash but reinforces the perception that RL is a small sport played in just a couple of places.

I get that there are people around who don't enjoy origin for whatever reason, but to say it is nothing more than a showcase event is wrong. Why would you consider origins a showcase, yet events like the Challenge cup, and even internationals not showcase events. Do they impact on domestic competitions at all, or do they somehow just seamlessly co-exist with no impact on players and clubs involved. In case you weren't aware, the Qld NSW interstate series has been held annually (few exceptions along the way) since 1908. the fact that its now played as an origin rather than residency is irrelevant - it is still an annual series going for over a hundred years - thats why its a great rivalry, not some made up bullshit that people seem to imagine. Its not like its not paying its own way now either is it. Other 'showcase events' are not better, or worse, just different, but I'm sure they all play a part in forming the fabric of the game in those places don't they? Why does it reinforce perception of being a small game? It is what it is, nothing more nothing less.

Personally I have to agree on the term showcase. The rules on eligibility are in my opinion at least a farce. If it was set in stone as to who could play where and not which team could convince which player to play where I think it would mean more.
I still enjoy it and back the blues but I do find it a bit pointless, even fans don't back the team they probably should.
Internationals is going the same way with Semi etc.

Patchy's blues?

Origin 3 2000

58,767 in an Olympic Year with 2 NSW games (Game 1 got 61,511, and #3 was a dead rubber)

That's 20,000 more than the 38,796 who shuffled into the then-Suncorp Metway in Game 2.

It's also hilarious you went back 16 years because there's no real evidence lately that NSW isn't interested despite Queensland's dominance.

Sorry but apart from Inglis which was a f**k up, who has played when they aren't eligible to play for a state. The eligibility rules are pretty clear cut if you bother to look at them instead of saying shit that's just not correct
