Intimated that everyone in camp has nfi and the guys who've racked up the most losses should be turfed.

Gus understands the predicament NSW are in, I reckon he should come in when the QLD spine retires and just sack everyone and start over.

Only if it was as simple as that.Queensland have had the best players, the best whatever they have...probably in the water,I dunno.Whatever reasoning,Qld have simply been better...And more than likely will be for years to come.

I know it sounds boring in a two horse race, but it is hard not to ignore the wall to wall promotional bullshit Channel Nien, and the other news outlets bombard us with Origin this, and bullshit that.

Unless you I and other despondent NSW supporters get the notion that this has always been about Qld,and the main fact hat Channel Nien make Squillions, then forever and a day will one be disappointed.

Would not surprise me at all if Moylan goes to 6 with Maloney to 7.

That allows Tedesco into the team amd lets Laurie stick to his "loyalty" schtick.

Give Leulua a run in the centres too.

I love this old chestnut, one of the funniest myths ive seen. Poor old qld had to make do with the gun side they had left, including the qlderp 'GOAT' Thurston. Yet were beaten by the might of Hodkinson and Reynolds in the halves

This. Plus re. Gould being like Seinfeld who won just one race:

It's true that NSW for 15 years (from Wally's retirement from rep football to Joey's retirement from rep football) were blessed with a golden patch of playing talent similar to Qld's right now, there's no denying Gus had a major influence on the mental playing strength of those sides. In NSW right now, there is enough NRL talent (some who haven't played this series) to be a consistent chance at beating Qld. Not taking anything away from Qld and the spine they have. But tonight (and in Game 1) Qld were on the back-foot for lengthy periods of time- they were there for the taking and NSW didn't put the foot down. They made poor decisions and silly errors in moments when they should have been picking up momentum and putting Qld under the pump. I blame this mental weakness on Daley. He lacks that "killer instinct" as a coach. No slight on him as a player- Wally Lewis was the King as a player, but forgettable as a coach.

You take tonights' squad (or the Game 1 squad), put Gus in charge of them and I reckon they'd very likely take this series out. Gus knows how to motivate squads, how to give them that "killer instinct" they're lacking right now. Gus (love him or despise him, I do in equal amounts) has a great football brain and is one of the best at having squads mentally ready for Origin.

While many people will think that NSW were a bit unlucky, I think they only have themselves to blame. Every time we appeared to be building a bit of pressure, we came up with a stupid error or forced a play that wasn't on. Additionally, I am just not convinced that Laurie Daley is the right man for the Blues coaching gig. He has been in the job for a number of years now and every year we never seem to be able to construct anything in attack; there is no plan or structure in place and every try we score seems to be fortuitous. Correspondingly, you can see what Queensland were working towards every time they came down NSW's end of the field. I think much of that has to do with the vision and guile of Cameron Smith. NSW lack a commanding presence and an organizer. Robbie Farah may be a skillful player and tackle his heart out but I think he is in a mind of his own in terms of organizing the team and working in conjunction with his team mates.

I think the make up of the team tonight will come into question. The most obvious selection that will be questioned will be as to why Jack Bird didn't start the game. While I like Dylan Walker as a player, he isn't playing well enough and just isn't up to origin standards at present. On the contrary, Jack Bird is in form and proved that he more than belongs at Origin level. Moreover, the Cronulla connection between Maloney and himself clearly showed as they linked up on numerous occasions when Bird came onto the field and sparked the Blues attack.

Daley should also face questions over the fact that he continues to persevere with the older heads, despite their being more enterprising options available to him now. For instance, I would have moved on from Greg Bird and gone with a younger back rower - there are plenty available to choose from. Similarly, I think that Nathan Peats probably should have been given a chance at the hooking role; if not him then I would have gone for the in-form Michael Ennis, who is in career best for and more importantly, really has developing a commanding presence in terms of game management. James Tamou is another player that probably should be moved on. He is one of those players who just never really seems to performance at origin level despite having numerous chances. Again, there are plenty of better alternatives for Daley to choose from. Given that NSW now have a policy where the coach picks the team, I think Daley will end up falling on his sword at the end of series and the whole of NSW may end up wondering what might have been had he got a few of his selection right. I get the feeling that Daley sticks with these old heads because he wants to imitate what Queensland do through their loyalty policy.

In saying that, not everything was doom and gloom. I thought Tyson Frizell was an inspired selection and looked every bit the part. Adam Reynolds continues to impress and it was a shame that he went off injured just as he started to grow into the game. I really like Josh Mansour as his extra strength and size really comes in handy when working the ball off our own goal line. Moylan looked ok at fullback but I'd be reluctant to continue to pick him there when his future clearly lies at five-eight.

With regards to the other forwards, Klemmer, Fifita and Josh Jackson all had solid games without being spectacular. I don't think they let the state down by any means and Aaron Woods always gives his best. I think what the team needs is a bit more aggression, particularly in defence. Please don't accuse me of being biased but Nathan Brown of Souths would be a good shout as would Regan Campbell-Gillard. People will say that we lack the "x-factor" but really if you look at that team, there are enough points in it already and I think if you go for say a Bryce Cartwright at this point in his career, there is every chance that he may lose you a game just as much as he could win one.

All in all, I think there are promising signs for NSW but I think a change in coach is needed. We need to bringing in someone who can better utilise the talents of the players at our disposal, particularly when we have the football.

Nobody should read this until you put paragraphs in your posts.

Jennings wayward pass led to the first try, which completely turned the game on its head. He also went missing in defence (again) for Gagai's third try.

He had a Barry Crocker, to be nice about it.

Last Gagai try was a knock on for all money.

Smiths hold down with 5 to go is a penalty and a sin bin on any other player in any other code in any other sport.

Why watch?

Well there was the dumb f*cking pass to allow Gagai to run 80 metres, knockimg on the kick with the line wide open, rushing out of the line to allow another Gagai try.

Thats a good start.

Shit.

Being caught out of position for Gagai's 2nd try should be the main criticism. He did the exact same thing in game 1. Rushed out of the line got caught in no mans land & created the overlap.

In all seriousness, I thought this was a great game. NSW came to play and most of their players had good games.

Frizell looked right at home and a few others of their rookies were promising. They definitely need to persist with Maloney at five-eighth, he looks dangerous when running the ball. There is no question that the culture of the lose brothers has destroyed NSW, and Gould was laser-like in his assessment on that.

Queensland played well off the back of some superb defense of C.Smith, who was a deserved MOM. Also, I thought they played conservatively in an effort to prevent fatigue. This proved a good tactic when they needed to hold back waves of NSW attacking play. A few neat touches from Thurston, desperate defensive plays and old fashioned Qld spirit saw us get the job done.

But it was an entertaining game and viewers would be pleased with some of the length of the field tries and precision plays from Thruston and co.

Gus is like Jerry in Seinfeld when he won a race as a kid and then refused to ever do it again so he wasn't found out.

Gus probably knows he couldn't do any better with the NSW players available so won't risk his rep as an Origin coach. The players he was blessed with in the 90s isn't unlike what QLD has now.

Just like when Bennett found out when he went to Newcy.
